obviusly its gonna be numerous HOL examples. tho three of the top of my head will be lady Mone, Lord I.Duncan and the lord that was to ill to stand trial but well enough to vote on bills and claim mountains of pounds in expences.
Not quite the same thing but I get your direction. However, if ever any government wanted to unify the nation and have a vote that would give a substantial majority, then a vote to do away with the house of lords would probably achieve both.
aye, and two out of the three ununist partys have been promising it since the year dot. along with home rule too. but, there you go. maybe next time...
So now it is going to be: 1) Vote for my deal or we don't leave, I will just extend Article 50. or: 2) Vote for my deal or fuck it (you bastards) we will just crash out. ??????????????
Here's mine AirCon (not that I give a monkeys) Anything in the locality that goes on the market (rental or sale) gets snapped up very quickly. I think we are about 8 miles apart.
They have form .... https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/10020273.fords-80m-eu-loan-to-boost-turkey-factory-and-close-ours/ Check the date of the article.
They are all merciless businesses, driven by lowering their costs and maximising profits. If they get a grant, or other incentives, to ship out to a cheap Eastern European country, they're off! But if we ever escape from the EU, then the UK can start making manufacturing more attractive and not be tied by the anti-competition rules that always go against us. I think car manufacturers will hang around to see how the £ FX rate goes, how the corporate tax rate goes, what incentives the Government comes up with. There is a big slow down in the car market Worldwide and I think this is an easy way for Ford to put their hand up to receive an incentive to stay. Or, lay off more employees as they don't need to make as many cars and of course dress it up as "because of Brexit"
Good spot Birdie. I guess the V8 has not got long to live .... a quick Google found this .... https://www.jaguarlandrover.com/2017/going-electric We are in the midst of the biggest change in the automotive industry since its inception. It's going to be ugly for a few years.
From 2020 all new Jaguar and Land Rover model lines will be electrified. Environmental innovation is at the heart of our vision as we continue to develop a range of solutions to reduce our carbon footprint and impact. We have demonstrated this commitment with new electric models from Jaguar’s past, present and future. Erm, I think these will be a little bit late or maybe even a lot late
Go and see how many VAG group jobs have moved 'east' from Deutschland. The answer - lots. When I took the BMW Munich factory tour in September the guide was proud to tell us that the 3/4 Series line is 95% automated. The only humans I saw were in the interiors/upholstery section, vehicle inspection staff and those managing the robots elsewhere. The paint-shop is 100% automated. A very impressive operation all round.
That really might come to the UK's advantage as labour costs are smaller and the component supplier proximity, may swing things to our advantage. Then the big question of people having a living wage as employment shrinks over the next 2 decades with the AI revolution. We can be busy picking up litter and filling pot holes Or riding our bikes
Given what I do, I find this difficult to believe Paul. Maybe the paint application, which isn't unusual to have robots manipulate panels and paint bodies, but there are a lot of processes that can't be automated in a paint shop.
Apologies for not being clearer. The only bit we were allowed to see was the actual painting process in a brand new facility which has also reduced waste to almost zero (their words !) They were very proud of it. If you are ever visiting Munich, I recommend a visit to BMW Welt. Great place to spend an afternoon.
