British Indy: What Happens Now?

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

  1. Yes and they have announced they are to shut down the Turkish plant too, to shift those two factories into their huge plant in Japan due to a worldwide reduction in new vehicles being bought

Not brexit, Turkeys not even in the eu. Spin that puppy if you can because vehicle sales or the lack of them is causing this?

  2. Honda set to close Swindon car plant http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-47282603

I’m not saying brexit is not a factor but from the article above

"Honda are clear this is based on global trends and not Brexit, as all European market production will consolidate in Japan in 2021."

    And

The International Trade Secretary, Liam Fox, also declined to comment directly until an official announcement.
But he pointed out that car demand had fallen since new diesel emissions rules were introduced across Europe.

    So playing devils advocate,
are Japanese manufactures keen to move plants to japan ?
Have the EU diesel emissions laws created the downturn in the car market ?

  3. Have you got a source for that or just a personal view?

From articles I've read, we usually feature very highly (despite Brexit) and are 7th on the World Bank rankings, with only Denmark in the EU, being higher.

  4. You need to go back and answer a few questions I poised regarding this - I am still waiting a remainer to answer, they all shy away from it.
Our trade deficit is huge with the EU - so do you really think the EU will shoot themselves in the foot to punish us? And if so, do you thing they are correct to do so for EU industry - and do you agree with their actions - if so, then carry on

  5. Don’t know about that, can’t really find anything to back it up.
The ‘brexit nonsense’ to me is spending the best part of 3 years trying to remain ( as that’s what politicians and big businesses want).

  6. Exactly, it's all Dukey's fault  his type have fooked us over, weakened the negotiations (which were rigged by out remainer politicians with the EU anyway) and now want to say I told you so - but with a clean and proper Brexit they will still be proved wrong, bless em  let's just hope we get there :eyes:

  7. I don't think the EU will grant a Free Trade Deal with the UK unless the government changes its position.
Is refusing a Free Trade Deal better for the EU Member States? Possibly long term, depending on their vision for their project which they haven't shared with me.
Do I agree with them - knowing the damage this will do to the UK- of course not.

So asked and aswered. Do you think the EU will grant Free Trade Acess to the UK?

  8. Yes, defiantly - but we have been too soft so far - it befits them more than us, so EU business would have forced it.
So you think they would rather punish us and that's their plan? How can there be a longer term benefit for them to do so, the trade deficit says otherwise... The government has no position to change - or do you mean to accept the current EU written remainer trash deal on offer?

  9. I see the EU position as a belief in Protectionism, that their idea is the future of the EU is more important than their trade with the UK.
Its frequently said by many (and on this thread) that Brexit is not just about the money. The EU may well think this way too.
I hope I am wrong -and will be happy if so- but to get a better "Deal", the UK will have to either grant more concessions or closer alignment by adopting a Norway or Canada agreement.

  10. Seriously I do not know what the outcome of Brexit will be. And the simple fact is no one else knows either!

I can see the arguments from both sides, but I don't know (yet) which scenario would be best for the country and it's subjects.

All In know is that there will be financial pain whatever happens, and it'll be the man on the street that suffers one way or another.

  11. Honda are not saying they won’t make cars anymore just they don’t want to make them in Britain.

I wonder how the Govt will feed it’s debt after April?

  14. I saw a couple of interviews of German politicians high in the eu last month who said that rather than have a deal with the U.K. and risk and compromise to the eu project, they feel it would be better to take the hit and then rebuild afterwards.

Great if you are wealthy like the Germans, not so good if you are in the two thirds of the eu members who take out more than you put in

  15. No point if Japan has just agreed a free trade deal with the Eu.

  16. Free trade with the eu??? I thought they didn't do those kinda deals ? :D:D

  17. That sounds a bit like you are saying they would rather ‘punish’ the uk even if it is detrimental to other EU countries ?

  18. Japanese Company can now make Japanese cars in Japan and export them to the EU tariff free.

British company can now make.....wait....what British company? Oh yes already sold them all to foreign ownership....
