My 2012 multistrada 12oos has an issue with the rear light where as only half of the bulbs are lit Can anyone help with this issue or do i need a new unit ? thanks
And £158 but watch out, I sent back 4 new ones where the glue had un bonded from the LED bulb holder and all of them rattled. I am now on my 5 new one which was dated a lot newer than the other four, so I think they had a batch of faulty glue.
How did you manage to get it opened without breaking it ? I have similar issue but can’t get it apart.
I used a sharp knife to carefully separate the rear panel from the main body of the lamp, this allows the circuit board to be withdrawn from the back. I used the same method to separate the lens so that the plastic light guide could be taken out. The light guide becomes loose and rattles inside the lamp covering everything with a fine white dust that gradually dims the lamp. Replacing the surface mount LEDs, cleaning off all the dust and securing the light guide with a couple of blobs from a glue gun made it as good as new. I used polystyrene glue for Airfix models to re-attach the lens and rear panel. I had pictures somewhere, I'll post them if I can find them.
I found the original thread with all the details about the tail lights : https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/tail-light-failure.37512/#post-653149
Thanks Derek. Sorted it yesterday. What a nightmare getting the lens off but once I got one section released I just levered as I went. Only 1 LED out. So cleaned it all up and glued back together. It will do until such times as I come across a replacement.
