1200 DVT 1st Ride Out.

  1. Well all being well a gang of us are going out for 1st time this year. Last few days has been brilliant up in Leeds anyway. Squires was chocka this afternoon. Must be a lot of retired guys, or a lot ringing in sick. Sorted a new setup for my vid cam with audio so hoping to get some better footage this year. Was trying to do a video of the difference between standard & full termi exhaust. So will try again, but this time I will be routing a mic near the rear end to capture the sound. Also one showing road legal speeds on dash, but more importantly the way the upmap makes the bike easy when round town type speeds are being used.

  2. Well have a good ride out then:upyeah:
weather is going to be good.

  3. You don't want any footage proving you are speeding. There are police reading this forum & will happily dish out your details for court proceedings. Don't film group riding if hooning & don't share online if you do either.

    Have fun

  4. Read my bloody txt. Oh & I'm going to show my Speedo at 150 . I'm an old fart that gets overtaken by hedgehogs. Oh & the occasional dustbin.

  6. Hi steviegtr. Glad you had a ride out, any feedback on the vario screen with the spacers fitted???.

  7. It's hard to say, I think there was less buffeting. I did raise the screen to the highest position for a try but that was unsatisfactory. I lowered it back in notches & found for me the best was right down & the top lip raised. I was doing video recording for most of the ride, so needed the screen low anyway. Listened to some audio I did in the helmet last night & there was very little wind noise, so guess the answer is yes for me it is better. Brilliant run out for the time of year. Was 5 degrees when we set off, Rose to 11 at best but felt much warmer.

  8. Hi Steviegtr. Thanks for the feedback.

  9. Am I guessing you make them or thinking of fitting some.

  10. Well the ride out on Saturday made me realise why I paid so much money for a bike. Forgot how bloody awesome the multi is. One of the lads insisted in being behind me. Asked him why & he said because every time you open it up I cream my sh-rts.

  11. I got some screen spacers off eBay.after fitting them and out for a test ride, felt no real difference for me. Was thinking of trying a MRA screen like yours with the spacers to see if this would improve on the wind/buffering.

  12. Doesn't the MRA screen have different screen fittings with a smaller diameter? Much like the Pikes Peak carbon version? I believe that Jamie does a different version for those?

I've tried Touratech and Puig, neither any better and Puig worse TBH (the same version, Touring screen, was a monumental improvement my MV Turismo so quite disapointed). My theory is that it's not really to do with the top lip of the screen but the narrow 'waist' down near the bodywork disturbing the airflow. I'm currently running with the std. screen and a set of Jamie's spacers which is the best I've found so far. All very subjective and dependant on other variables though.

  13. MRA on mine just needed the smaller diameter sections removing. Otherwise Jamie's spacers worked a treat. Lifts the screen nicely. :)

  14. That looks pretty neat. Without getting to personal, how's your wind problem?

Also; which MRA screen is that? Did try one with an aerofoil on my mates VFR VTEC, I had the same bike at the time, and found it terrible...

  15. My wind is not embarrassing or problematic! :)

It's the MRA Touring Vario. I had the same screen on my old GS and am a convert. Gives a lot of possibility for fine tuning height and aerofoil depending on conditions, loads and even helmet / jacket combo (seriously - these things can make such a difference).

  16. Agree, I found the MRA Vario to be the best I have tried. Also as above you have to move the blade around to tune out the unwanted noise. Yes the spacers did need the shoulder cutting off. Didn't know they did different ones.
