1200 DVT Rear Suspension Upgrade

  1. Having decided that the rear of the Multi was on the soft side even with the Skyhook working its magic I took the decision to have a heavier spring fitted, after reading a couple of theads on here I got in touch with TW Suspension Tech over in Preston.
I also had some play in the lower shock mount so I wanted that doing at the same time.
a bit of an adventure ensued with regards to the lower mount bolt and ended up with it having to be cut out of the bike
so off it went to Teut over at TW, originally I was looking at just a heavier linear spring but after conversations with him as to how I used the bike (everything from solo to two up with full panniers and camping gear and all points in between) he suggested a triple staged spring.
He did some calculations with regards to use/weights involved and ended up at a 120/150/175nm spring.....for comparison the stock rear is 95nm :joy:
It arrived back with me yesterday and I spent the evening refitting the shock, I guessed some settings and went for a quick ride but it was late so I parked it away till today.
I set off on some of my usual roads and it quickly became apparent that my guesses were miles out, way to much pre-load on to start with, so a few stops later going down a few steps at a time Ive ended up at 9.....from 20 before the spring change
it now feels really good, I mean it felt good before when solo but now it feels just better, and of course I now have plenty of scope for Mrs and luggage.
Dealing with Teut at TW was a pleasure, very pleasant and clued up chap who really knows his stuff, and he kept me informed of progress at all times, I'd not hesitate to recommend him or use him again, Top Bloke !:upyeah:
