I have just got an International Driving Permit (1968 Convention) from the Post Office at a cost of £5-50. It may not be needed even after 29 March, but just in case it does become necessary I thought it wise to get one. Others may wish to consider doing likewise - there might be a rush later! Rather oddly, mine is valid until 2022 even though my UK driving licence is valid only until 2020.
As always, check that you have the correct version of the IDP for the country/ies you will be driving in: 1926, 1949 and 1968 https://www.gov.uk/guidance/international-driving-permits-for-uk-drivers-from-28-march-2019
Not possible online. You must go to a Crown Post Office (not a sub-office) in person. Not the AA or RAC any longer. Take a passport photo, your UK driving licence, and your passport.
I have two. Different one required for Spain,no idea why. WTF, 3 driving licenses. Also in the process of applying for french license. The world has gone mad!
I was happy having two IDPs plus two driving licences ... but a third IDP now? Fvck Brexit, it's an IDP too far!
The vignette for my Multistrada is a mauve 1, which enabled me to ride into Paris. Other (lower) categories are available. https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/en/
