I'm not really a new member, having been on the forum since the start of the year, but initially I joined because I bought a 748SP. However, I've traded that in, with a 2010 Fireblade ABS, for a 2011 Multistrada - I may regret losing the 748SP, but it promised to be a real "arm, leg and first-born child" sort of expense, so I got its value in trade-in. I loved the Fireblade, but it was always a High Days and Holidays sort of bike - hopefully the Multistrada will be used more than it was. The Ducati has 16,500 miles on, but looks really well-looked after. I acquired a set of Ducati heated grips, which I've just finished fitting - the bike was delivered at 1200 today - and I've just locked up afterwards - the worst bit was a) finding the heated grips connectors, buried in the protective cover under the tank and b) getting enough clearance to detach the tails and plug in my wires. Everything seems to work as it did before, and I've no bits left over, so all I have to do now is tax it then take it back to M&S Newecastle to enable the grips in the ECU.
The Ducati grips are controlled from the starter button, and are integrated into the LCD display. Unfortunately, the Ecuador needs to be told that they are there. As default, they aren't enabled( don't ask me why) and the connector is terminated by blank tails. I'm informed that this enabling has to be done AFTER installation, so I couldn't get the enablement done whilst it was at the dealers and will have to visit later. It still saved me over £100 buying the kit and fitting it myself rather than the £270 (with discount!) quoted. A pain to do, helped greatly by information from this forum.
