I need to disconnect the battery to install a permanently on aux.supply (USB). Can I expect any issues when I reconnect it, or does it all generally go OK? Don't want to upset the electronics if I can help it.
When my mate did his Speedo seem to reset itself KLM not mph apart from that don't think he had any problems
As already said, certainly on my 1st gen Multistrada, the units revert to kph and litres and you lose the correct time. Andy
Yup, you'll need to reset stuff. The rear shock will thru a reset also(if yourre an S.) You could get a mate to hold down connections on battery so it's doesn't actually disconnect. Its no great hassle tho.
Thanks for the replies, makes sense that its all going to revert back to factory settings now you've mentioned it. The bike is an S so yep, shocker aswell. I was thinking a long the lines of holding the crimp down to the terminal whilst removing the screw, could well work. Will let you know how I get on when I eventually get into the garage. cheers.
You are supposed to disconnect and reconnect the terminals in the correct order. Disconnect negative first, reconnect positive first.
As above but, if you put a permanently on usb, make sure it is either an auto switching one or have a cutoff switch for it because they tend to use power all the time and will flatten your batt in a week to where you cannot start the bike. Remember these bikes depend on a very good battery to start them. So be careful which unit you choose to fit, I am not sure if you can even get one that uses zero current when it has nothing connected to it.
Probably best just to fit a cigarette outlet then and plug/unplug the USB adapter as required. Cheers.
Yep, think you're right there Rich. Also, well worth resetting the pin code to your own so you do remember it. I have used mine out of necessity and it is handy.
