French customs bods are also working to rule at the moment - causing 15km queues at Calais and Dunkirk.

I’m saying the report is 7 years old. It’s up to you how you want to interpret that information or if you don’t want to interpret it at all.
I find quite a lot of the information regarding mps and meps difficult to interpret if I’m honest. However, things like the ruling that their expenses don’t have to be visible tell me they are probably up to no good.
you could go back over the last 30 years whilst IN the eu and find many many strikes by port and port supporting roles on the French side where they have used the crossing to annoy the French government in regards to pay disputes, this one is no different http://www.fruitnet.com/eurofruit/article/178067/french-strikes-cause-port-chaos
On French TV this evening the customs people said that they were checking one lorry in ten whereas they normally, within the single market, check one in a hundred. After Brexit they will pretty much have to check them all. And of course there will be quite a lot of paperwork to go through with each load. French exporters and hauliers are most unhappy. So a little foretaste of what’s to come in 3 weeks’ time. Better get used to it. This is what you wanted, isn’t it? A small price to pay for all that extra freedom. Or perhaps those evil Frogs are just trying to punish us. Just like them. What did we expect, eh?
BTW : the new customs posts to check all the trans-Channel freight at the French Channel ports post Brexit are still piles of sand with a couple of bulldozers on them. They’ve shown them several times on the French news recently. So if it’s any consolation, the French aren’t any readier for Brexit than we are. No doubt it will all be sorted over the next 3 weeks.
Unlikely they will have to check all , you have to remember, we have no migrants trying to cross the channel into France, understandably. They will make twats of themselves for a month or so but as the mayor of Calais has said, the port can handle a no deal with no worries. I think he was also aware that if the frenchies get silly, Amsterdam has been expanding their ports to ready for extra business if France becomes the neighbour from hell Yep as I said, it will be the usual French fucking about for a short while as they have always done and the French government has never stopped it whether we are in or out of the eu project and yes, it's this kind of sillyness that saw so many people say let's leave as mentioned above, the French government will try a little bit of napolionism for a small while, then their sphincter will twitch when their own ports see a drop in business. cest' la vie
I admire your omniscience. A leaf out of the JRM handbook. But then the Yellow Vest protests have been going on for some time now. This could be quite a handy plan for continuing them. Hard to complain about customs officials doing their jobs conscientiously. Could drag on for months.
Just as well we’ve been expanding all our ports to accept the extra ships. Just think what might have happened if we hadn’t. Who needs a Channel Tunnel anyway?
