You're making a mistake here, El T. You assume this this "conversation" is based on rationality. It isn't. It, like the wider Brexit debate, is based on emotion alone (for the Leave side, certainly). Bring up concrete objections to the Leave "plan", and you are either ignored or laughed at or just told "it'll be alright on the night" - rather Bush's attitude before the Iraq War. And we know how that panned out.
His joke dude, you need to smile more, and make friends with the Lozzeraptor once more and the big guy too 2 to two
Never argue with religious zealots, Elise. They are impervious to argument as they are following dogma, not logic.
Not quite sure why your so bothered, being in Switzerland an all you've already abandoned the UK. Anyhow, so we're going to be worse off if we leave as you've described. If we stay, apart from all the control and democratic issues you don't seem to have factored in the extra costs that will be involved in remaing. Propping up the Euro (again) and bailing out bankrupt economies (again) and the reason why this will require lorry loads of dosh is because while the Euro and EU in theory is an economists wet dream in reality politicians are running the show who only have a short term fixed life span and as a result wil fuck everything up. So if we leave we only have to pay for fuck ups in one country if we stay we will have to pay for the cost of fucking up 27. TB
Glidd is sincere. He is also an interesting combination of sophistication and naivety. It fascinating to watch it in action. If he would just drop his preconceptions, and look at both sides of the argument dispassionately, things would become more interesting still. Ah well.
Yes mate, Westminster might be able to redirect its priorities to do all the things that the EU are currently doing. But it won't, will it? Get serious. It will probably vote for more tax cuts, cosy up to the US, let farmers go to the wall and the deprived areas of the UK, which is doesn't support and which most Londoners don't have to visit, sink deeper into the shit. If your attention span is that short (bored after 4). Mine just got shorter. Is this a debate or just a trolling amusement?
Just amusement mainly, lighten up Iggle don't lower yourself by using the troll word just cause someone else used it against you
People in democracies get they governments they deserve. Always. If your solution is to have government imposed upon people without the people's expressed consent, well ... good luck. If I asked you, "What could possibly go wrong?", would you get what I mean?
But you're desperate to give them more power. They consistently make better decisions than the "unelected EU bureaucrats".
No, he just finds it sad that a country that could be great consistently decides not to be because it likes to live in the past and turn its back on its closest neighbours.
The Swiss have an excellent form of government - as long as the leadership isn't utterly corrupt. Your adoptive country might be the last to fall, as a result. For my information, how many times have you observed the Swiss government ignore "the will of the people"?
I'm pretty sure we didn't prop up the Euro (because we weren't in it) or bailed out anyone. I'm fairly sure we didn't become poorer. But I admit I'm not 100% sure and if someone can point out that I am mistaken, I'll be happy to read up on it. I did see the BBC documentary which aired recently where it appeared that Britain took no part in the Euro crisis because it wasn't our baby.
