British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. No one, I tell you!

  2. I have no idea why people think I’m some grumpy, miffed person. My posts are festooned with laughter and jokes. I can assure you I’m not miffed. Whilst it is true that Brexit will have some impact on me, it’s nothing compared to the impact it’s going to have on you. I haven’t got much of a reason to be miffed. As I’ve said before, it’s not really my problem. But that doesn’t mean I don’t care about you!

  4. I read the mood of the country from this thread and more particularly from the people who phone up LBC. And the latter are very pissed off and in many cases hopelessly ignorant. Their votes still count though.

  5. Why do you identify as “nationalist”?
What does the term mean to you?

  6. What, me read this thread? Are you insane?

you think the 30k limit is too high but to campeign for it is greivence.
    man man man. soverignty!

  11. Abso bally lute lee. Its not even the 29th yet! To think everyone wrote him off as an expenses scammer & a dodgy one with MOD contracts.

  12. In fairness, the type of people who present on LBC and those who call up LBC are perhaps just that way inclined, generally annoyed or miffed about something, it's like trash radio

Farage is clearly there to annoy
OBrien is clearly there to annoy

I rather think of LBC to be similar to Jeremy Kyle, you already know you're in for a fat chav and paternity test.

  13. Back in the day, the Swiss were mostly cheese makers who had (predictably) cheese, a pan they used to make cheese and a fire. They wanted a hot meal.

  14. Be honest, it's probably the closest a straight bloke is going to get in tasting what his own pram fat tastes like, Fondue, yuk.

  15. If I am reading things right

May is going to try and get her deal through again ?
Labour said they will not support a second referendum ?

Glid said pissed off and hopelessly ignorant people should not be allowed to vote, so who will be voting then ?

  16. "Nationalist" has a broad meaning, I won't attempt to define it. I share some of its traits but I'm not sure I am a perfect fit with it.

In my case, I am more readily defined as an anti-globalist.

I believe in smaller government, with the decision makers being as close as possible to the people making the decisions. I believe in limited government, which reduces the scope for corruption and graft and increases personal freedom. This stance is incompatible with globalism and multi-nation superstates.

I don't believe in transplanting whole industries out of countries, depriving the citizens of those countries from meaningful work, which is certainly incompatible with EU policy and practice.

I believe in smaller business, with said businesses sharing the successes and tribulations of the communities they serve, rather than nation-hopping multi-nationals who follow the trail of lowest minimum wages. This also reduces opportunities for political corruption and graft. (Again, incompatible with EU practice.)

I don't believe in minority monocultures, which is to say, sections of a society which do not embrace essential cultural norms of the host nation. There are numerous countries around the World who do not allow immigrants to ignore their societal conventions. There are numerous countries around the World which do allow this. Neither scenario is an unqualified success, as far as I can tell. Please note, I speak from experience both as a host nation citizen and as a guest.
Please note, in case you are not following closely, this is nothing to do with issues of skin colour, language barrier or any other trivial factor. I am speaking of core beliefs, core freedoms, quintessential contradictions of opinions on behaviours, tolerances, etc. For instance, people who believe that acquiring or selling narcotics should be legal do not prosper when living in countries that have the death penalty for drugs offences, and such countries do not need or appreciate people who traffic drugs. Assimilation of indigenous cultural norms (eg, don't do drugs) is beneficial to guests as well as hosts, but this philosophy is not universally followed.

I realise that I am a dinosaur, and that I swim against the tide. I don't believe I am mistaken though (I read history) and I can only hope that the endgame that I see in our future occurs after my children have lived full, fulfilling lives.

  17. Sadly no (ie, of course they should be allowed to vote). What other system is there?
You can't go putting into place means testing for pissed-offness and ignorance.

What was that Churchill quote about democracy being the least worst system of governance?

  18. Probably...........

........although more likely adept at fairly accurate speculation based upon all the various UK Governments' shenanigans, going back to the 1960s roughly.

  19. I'll vote

What am I voting for again?

  20. Yes, this is meaningful vote 3. From her point, 230 was the first one, that's dropped down to the 180's. I do wonder if she will do the eu trick of just keep voting till she gets the result she wants ?
