British Indy: What Happens Now?

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. Just poking the porridge of sanitised observations chap :D

  2. Hmm. Porridge... warm and gloopy... a bit like....

  3. Let's face it. The HoC has no idea how to deal with this.
They might just as well punt it back to the people and then immediately do whatever comes back from that.
At least it will be clear (ish).

  4. Was that a veiled insult?

  5. Right now I'd be quite happy with that. Simple remain as is or leave without a deal. Two choices

  6. Yeah, an' I'm allowed to be.......

.....but you never know, I might get proved wrong on the outcome if the UK just drops out at the end of this month with No Deal.

..........but I reckon that is highly unlikely......

    ...if not impossible.

  7. It's heating up in the House just now.

  8. They are heading for the Division Lobbys to vote an amendment to defer Article 50 until another referendum has been held. Amendment H from Dr Sarah Wollaston.

  9. As an aside I notice your examples of furious people etc didn’t include one calling in saying ‘of course we should remain, nobody knew what they were voting for’ or similar.
Ok if I add that ?

Help me decide please, having given it some thought, I don’t think there should be any criteria for who can vote except perhaps the age thing that currently exists.
What do you think - should there be restrictions on who gets a vote ?

  10. you wanna be told how to vote?

  11. The Noes have it, so on to amendment I from Hilary Benn

  12. No, there should be no restrictions on who gets a vote over a certain age (18).
I think that prisoners should definitely get a vote. The European Court of Human Rights thinks so too, but the UK does not.

I do, however, disagree with your false equivalence of Remain and Leave. Remain knew what it was voting for - the status quo. Yes, yes, yes, maybe the status quo will change and the EU will morph into a United States of Europe in 20 years time. Who knows? But it would be possible to leave then, if it was really awful.

Leave on the other hand, is voting for the unknown - trade treaties that may or may not materialise (doesn't look to be any time soon) and a black hole in legislation. So to say that neither Leave nor Remain knew what they were voting for is just wrong. One side did. The other side voted for what they would like or hope to happen. Good luck with that.

  13. Perhaps I have a bad example.

How about the ones that say we should have another referendum because a lot of old people voted leave and they will have passed away now.
    Is that a better example.

My point is, I suppose, do you think all leave voters are not very clever and all remain voters are clever ?

  14. This is a tough one o_O

I guess the acid test, as always, is to ask ourselves what did Dianne Abbot do?

  17. What? Where? When?

    What have i missed?

Did Corbyn go off the top rope and just miss getting May in a figure four leg lock?

I bloody knew they'd go for my royal rumble suggestion...woo hoo :D

  19. When did I ever say that? You don't half ask a a lot of (disingenuous) questions, Alan.
But if you really want to look at the data, it appears that there is a strong correlation between education level reached and wishing to Remain or Leave. You can Google that and then disagree with it if you like. I shan't mind. But honestly, ALL Leave voters are thick and ALL Remain voters are clever? Do me a favour.
