British Indy: What Happens Now?

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

  4. I've often used and not for just now, the "extreme remainers" term as not all remainers are middle class, guardian reading, kale and mocha smoothie slurping, university educated in gender studies, do as I say not as I do, tree hugging, vegan fucktard, sandal wearing condescending snotgobblers.... as many extreme remainers seem to be

I hope that clarifies the differences..the majority of remainers are very reasonable people, the extreme remaining london bubbleista's, not so much

This has been a noobie public service announcement :D

  8. Lib Dems always were / are a waste of money, time and air.

    But actually, aren't most MPs?

  9. I believe it's more in the cause of incompetence than through not wanting to leave.

But why do I think this? Because of power. Why does May want to stay in the EU and potentially hand everything over to them (if you believe BigEU conspiracy theories!)? I don't think that this scenario makes sense because there's nothing in it for May, or the Tories. The EU can't control who is in power in this country (unless there really is a BigEU conspiracy!) and so there's no guarantees for her position of power. She has nothing to gain by staying, and probably more to gain (that Parliamentary Sovereignty again!) if she leaves; mostly because she can rip up a lot of the rule books.

BUT I really don't think that any of this is at play. I think they're just incompetent. Totally, utterly and completely incompetent; this is why they are MPs.

    I SHALL NOT BE SILENCED!

  12. Ooh-err, that's me fooked then isn't it? Just received the email below from my insurer. No valid licence means no valid insurance.

Anyone planning on travelling in Europe after 29/3 be aware.

    Motor Policy Number: XXX/XXX/XXXXXXXXX

    Dear Paul,

We would like to firstly take this opportunity to thank you for choosing Liberty Insurance for your insurance needs.

We want to make you aware of recently published advice from the National Driver Licence Service (NDLS) regarding UK driving licence holders who reside in the Republic of Ireland. We are drawing your attention to this as it contains important information regarding what will happen with UK driving licence holders residing in Ireland in the event of a no-deal Brexit.

In summary the NDLS have advised that, in the event of a no-deal Brexit, the driving licence of a UK licence holder living here in Ireland will no longer be recognised and the driver will not be able to continue to drive in Ireland on that licence.

The advice from the NDLS is that anyone holding a Full UK driving licence who resides in Ireland should exchange their licence for a Full Irish driving licence before the 29thMarch 2019, which is set as the withdrawal date of the UK from the EU.

Under current arrangements a UK licence holder resident in the Republic of Ireland has an entitlement to make such an exchange, without issue. In this scenario, the driver will have all valid licence categories on their driver licence included on the Irish licence. There are some limited exceptions which can be obtained by contacting the NDLS.

  13. You haven't "fixed" it, Ant, you *broke* it.

Just like you did Brexit, you extreme ruffian.

  14. That's peculiar, even an American or canadian tourist can drive in the republic for 12 months on their own licence

It looks like it is just a simple exchange though, from irelands dvla and in regards only to a wto/free trade (no deal) brexit

  15. I didn't break anything; I voted for the status quo, remember?

(I'm quite partial to a bit of Roll Over Lay Down, tbh :p)

  16. I thought exactly the same. I think the issue reffered to is for UK license holders who are resident in RoI. Not just visiting.
