Bikes like this need to be seen (heard). To put it in a glass cabinet for one man to spunk over is just wrong. Sadly, that's what will probably happen with this beautiful example. Crying shame.
I thought I had seen this before. http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f2/beautiful-factory-888-moto-italia-8251/
You young whippersnapper! That's because you don't remember Doug Polen winning world championships on it! "Ja meine Junger! Das ist die Sachskurve!"
Rumour had it that Ducati were planning on an 800cc Desmo road bike but it was going to be north of £60k... I know a few people have expressed an interest to Ducati UK if they were ever produced etc
If Ducati/Honda/Yamaha made proper GP rep bikes to sell to the public, it wouldn't matter the cost as people would still buy them. Just look at the cost of Lambos, Ferraris and all manner of other supercars. There will always be a market
It is indeed a very nice bike, a few bits are wrong but close. "Put it on the road" this is not a road bike, you'll need to fit a starter motor to get anywhere first.
A glass case or track days only wouldn't be enough for me ... so to answer the OP's question I'd have to go for the Desmosedici
I am sorry Imola but for average person and biker that 888 would not different to 851 or on the move old style SS which would mike them quite common old bike.
a brick??? sombody has a lack off taste. i would take that brick over a demosidici everyday. henk!!!
i can take that comment from sombody who call him self the BULL!!!!!! did you have to get that picture from the wallstreet bull on google or have you all ready been there? still i want that 888 if you ride it or put it in in case, prices on them just go up. that is not what happen whit a desmosidici at the moment. henk!!!
Yes as they are slightly new-er. Give it few more years. Not to mention in those few years you can enjoy beautiful desmo or look at "brick".
Joking aside, I'd sooner have the Desmo. You could actually use the thing. And I am convinced that Desmo prices will rise. I bet if you bought one now and kept it for 10 years, you'd be laughing
As I said in another thread, the desmosedici leaves me completely cold, and it sure is ugly. I'll take the 888 please.
I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and you are entitled to your opinion, but given that you live in Milton Keynes and own a Honda CBR600F and a Honda Accord I'm not sure that your views on the D16 would be given credence by many others
