848 Bike Security

  1. Unfortunately no rear access to the garage. One way in and out.

Thanks buddy. I’ll look into this. Currently it’s sitting in my back garden. Need to clear out the garage.

  2. After having my 750ss stolen twice over 3 years. I have done as much as I can to secure. 2 ground anchors 2 disc locks alarm, tracker and shotgun garage has 3 locks and movement alarm. Nothing is safe in this country...

  3. Sad to hear. But you’re right.
My little ones bicycle was stolen from my back garden. The w****r even looked straight at the CCTV while taking it.
I recognised him few weeks later hanging around again! I stepped outa my car, got hold of him and pushed him around a little.
Literally he pooped himself. The smell was awful!
Neighbours came out and I called the cops.
She (officer) came back few hours later to pick up cctv footage, and said the smell in her car was horrendous and they had to clean him up at the station. Looool.

  4. Thanks Andy.
If anyone is interested in a Roadlok for their bike, I sell them in the uK with the full support of Roadlok USA. Price for a single unit is £168 delivered.

  5. Agreed, I have something on the inside which serves the same purpose, but all invisible to prying eyes and gives no indicators that there may be something worth stealing behind the doors.

  6. Nobody mentioned options like BikeTrac? personally I think it's better than an 'alarm' and while it still drawers power I think they are a decent option.

  7. Hi Phil, I've fitted an itrack with a power adapter. And so far it's working great. It's very small with battery backup. And only £30 a real bargain and no annual subscription

  8. You could always knock up another door inside the garage door , my mate has knocked up a steel cage in his garage where he keeps his race bike.

  9. I've used on up and over garage door and also fitted to a 50mm thick timber door with bolt going in to frame. I chopped the key and welded a 50mm extension in to account for door thickness, works a treat. Discreet as you only see the escutcheon, could paint the escutcheon for extra stealth :bucktooth:

  10. They will get in next doors garage and knock the wall down if you secure yours too well, just put your bed in the garage and purchase a gun :upyeah:

  13. Hahahahaha. That’s bloody true.

I’m sure I remember reading sometime ago, thieves broke in to a garage via the roof and lifted the bike out.

Think I may just leave it in the garden. Lol.

  14. I was at a house yesterday, there were 2 bikes on the drive under covers, being nosey about the bikes, the fella had his bikes stolen from a garage detached from his house but he could see from the bedroom window behind his house, he had decided they were safer on the drive than in the locked garage :(

  15. These, with a Biketrac. Take it from me, you need both, in order to sleep at night.

My Almax chain i take with me into London every day, is the shortest one they do (i think) and i park on the pavement in order to be always chained to something.

Thieves are everywhere, have no doubt. My 1098SF went from The Boltons, Kensington and my S1000R from Richmond.

It feels weird saying that S1000R was mine as i only had it a week!

  16. I'm a BIG fan of the Biketrac as well. I've had one fitted to all the decent bikes I've owned for the past few years now.

With the Roadlok I have fitted and the Almax chain and padlock I use when parked up at home, I feel pretty reassured its secure from most have a go scum bags.

You will never stop the determined scum bags who go around in groups and use vans and disc cutters, but as some one else mentioned, you hope what locks you have fitted will buy you enough time for the reinforcements to arrive to save the day!

  17. I have two new Ducatis and my 1967 250 in the garage with no security and keys in the ignition, but I don't live in the UK anymore.

  18. A person I know had a recent conversation with an ex scumbag (served his time and is now reformed) who spent his time stealing bikes, he said one of the only things that would put him off lifting a bike was if it had a tracker sticker on it!...whether there was a tracker fitted or not....Useful! :upyeah:

  19. Isn't it better to keep them guessing rather than advertise the fact? Suppose if you don't have one fitted it makes sense...
