Guzzi Cafe Racer just gone up on Ebay

  1. Looks truly hideous to me, as Mr R says a 400/4 tank with, if I'm not mistaken, the vinyl centre cover off a period CB200. AND, what also looks like the tail-piece off a GS750!!

An insult to Guzzi and 400/4s

  4. I've seen that Guzzi, its local to me. I wouldnt touch it with a barge pole. Carbs are worn out, manifolds are bodged on,leaks oil everywhere. The owner took it to my mates workshop, when told all the things wrong with it, he took it home rather than pay to get it fixed. The Buell engined Norley is being sold by someone whose built a few really nice bikes. A Norley kit with tank and oil tank goes for about £2400 (I know cos I bought one), so not sure its worth £5500 as it stands, but its not too far out.

  5. That Norley looks quite nice.

  6. That Guzzi is hideous, liking the Norley though.

  7. is it me or does it seem the guzzi has fork springs on the exhaust

  8. yeah malcom i seemed more like malcom when i was 17
specialy if you remember the " i dont want to die " cartoon lol

  9. ahh so typical 70's fashion
    dont like flares either lol

  10. Yes............the Guzzi thing is downright awful.............f*** knows what he was thinking of...............as an ex-Guzzi owner I know damn well I could have come up with something a bl**dy sight better.....

Even if I could justify spending out on it (don't even know which engine it is) I would chuck half the stuff away as sson as I got it.

His other listing is pretty good though......

.......looks almost like mine returned to standard spec...

....but I reckon his cafe racer will damage the bidding on this one....

  11. well thought out, removing battery and electrics from under seat so there is room to carry around the block of wood to place under the side stand

  12. Apart from the fairing, there was very little difference between the Mk1 and Mk2 Le Manszzsszz.

Dash; Position of front calipers; Headlight; Rear light (although that did vary which is why some Mk1s had the Mk2 light).....that sort of thing.

However.....my mate had an MHR..........he couldn't keep up with me.......as for fuel consumption, I could get my Mk2 to return 80mpg at a constant 80mph...

Another mate had a VFR 750 and we went to Cornwall....

We filled up before we left Colchester.............he stopped loads of times for fuel.........I filled up in St Austell and I wasn't on reserve either.

Later on I had some DrJohn goodies fitted.....fuel consumption not so good, but it was quicker.

  13. Weren't we all?...............only, we were in our 30s and 40s...........(and sometimes I still do it.............................)
