Exhaust Pipe Polishing.

Discussion in 'Detailing and cleaning' started by Paul55, Mar 4, 2019.

  1. My 748R pipes are in need of a polish. I bought some Harpic Power Plus max toilet cleaner and Mirka Mylon abrasive finishing pads. That removed the baked on brown colouring.
I then set about using Solvol Autosol with a drill and fabric pads.
Slowly I seem to be approaching a mirror finish, but it is time-consuming and laborious.
Please let me know if there are better methods of application or products.

  2. Personally, I think Solvol is a little coarse to get a mirror finish.
Autoglym liquid metal polish is good, as is Peek, if you can find some.

  3. 2 options.

A: As above, takes ages and makes a right mess.
    B: Pay someone else.

    I've done A. I'll be doing B next time.

  5. I did B and it cost me £30 for my Diavel Termis. Once they are polished you will need to keep it up though as they discolour quickly. If I was to do it again I'd probably consider ceramic coating.

  12. Just started doing mine, 600-3000 grit pads then I need to finish the on the wheel. They have come up well but have taken 4 hours or so! Should be a lot easier to keep this way now.
