  4. Seems to be more like my ktm 525...so, i think its got a CDI...

  5. Don’t waste any time or money trying to get more power out of it - 4t 125s just ain’t cost effective to tune
Looks like all available budget will be quickly spent :)

  6. Yeah - thats the consensus....any more power will be gained by weight saving....we're trying to keep it to 500 quid-ish....ie when i he took it to fowlers, for him to hand the bike over and have the mains done was 500 quid, so thats our target...at the moment we're about 250 for all the powder coating - and, we reckon we can get the engine done for about a one'r (but he has to see it first...)

One of the bushes is stuck in the swing arm so gonna have to drop that off at fowlers to get it pressed out along with the lower bearing shell on the bottom yoke...

  7. So, took the swing arm down to a local engineer, pressed the remaining bush out, got the collar off the yoke, all great, dropped it down to the power coater.

Bad news....took a route i never normally take (and while i was travelling down it on the hyper i did think) - why am i going this way....then went through a speed van...in a 20 - ive no idea how fast i was going but it was definately over 30....and when i got off the hyper a lug on the back of the swing took a fucking great big gouge out of the rear panel which i not that recently had painted.

Thats what you get for helping out!! :)

  14. No idea... Wife brought it home years ago (she used to work in a lab) needless to say you can't use it indoors unless you have breathing apparatus (I really mean that) Hydrochloric .. And its got an "8" on the bottle...

  15. Drain the acid from a scrap battery into a glass bottle/jar. Use it for the same purpose. A weak solution is brilliant for removing rust from the inside of petrol tanks

  18. You are obviously at the point where you are beyond recourse with the dealer. If the kid is alright and you set up a go fund me page, I’ll chip in!

  19. Thanks. TBH i should have looked at it as soon as i got it....i didnt (i should have) kicking myself now....it was one of thing where (a few months after he bought it) he came into work a bit concerned about how "it didnt feel right" so, as i say i started to work on it but the more and more i looked at it (3 different repair job) the more and more i thought "this is fucked" and we're now at this point....the lad building the engine called me and said "how many miles as it got on it?" to which i said just over 12k....he said "well, internally it looks like its done way more" but he said its all doable...

    A go fund
me page....im a bit old fashioned...id feel like a bit of a scrounger if i did that - does that sound weird??

  20. I have given money to far more tenuous causes so why not? I once gave quite a few bob towards a rehabilitation centre for scantily clad nymphomaniacs with low self-esteem and dad issues.
It was all working out well until my youngest daughter checked in!

Seriously though set one up, you are not scrounging if it’s not for you.
