British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. Arlene Foster even? Not Arlene Phillips (no relation) the choreographer and sometime Strictly judge? Although she might speak more sense;)

  2. There was a video of him on the link that you can't take with a pinch of salt :bucktooth:

  3. Its a mess. In fairness to the majority in parliament though, they have been excluded from the process until now. Most fault lies at the feet of May and the hard line Brexiteers in her party. The ones that have been invisible in parliament today btw, nowhere to be seen. They have tried to force their narrow inflexible vision on parliament and now its backfiring. I dont accept they have not been architects in the failed deal, blaming the EU again, is predictable.

Most people change tactic when something clearly isnt working. The whole process has been back to front. Article 50. Setting a leave date in stone. Red lines before talks. The fiasco with ferries (ferries...what ferries..?), red lines before negotiations etc. All done before a workable plan has been in place.
In truth though, the Tory party lost the mandate to run the show and dictate when May called the last election and they lost their majority.
THAT was an indicative vote in itself. It was also the point when they should have started the current process in parliament to move forward.

If brexit is stopped or massively watered down from what some wanted it will be the fault of the Tory party and the factions within.

  4. Didn’t see that. I’ll check it out. It’s unbelievable, the President of the EU Council trying to influence our politics & democracy? Who would have thought it possible :p

  6. Anyone know what’s happening about changing Exit Day from 11pm 29/3?

Errr, there’s an Act of Parliament says that’s when it’s happening and that still needs to be changed if the HoC wish to continue debating what they don’t want on Monday.

  7. Nope :bucktooth:

  8. What ? Has Tusk got a video of May in a ‘golden shower’ scene:scream:? No wonder she’s doing what she’s told. No, wait, hang on, it’s just dawned on me, May was in that Moscow hotel with Trump, wasn’t she? It’s Putin isn’t it? He’s pulling the strings on both of them. No wonder we’re fooked.

  9. Not surprisingly I don't agree. From day one, the only option that matched the request to leave the control of the eu was indeed, wto and fair trade. The last 3 years has been about the remaining house trying to stop that.

Now, when May has called their bluff and said put up or shut up, the fuckers still can't agree and have shown the true candidates of this countries division, those who sought to overturn a majority democratic peoples vote

  10. If the Germans do come to our rescue, it won't be in cars, it will be in tanks.

I see the MSM is still selling the idea that the News of the Day is TM "stepping down".

Deceitful MFers. They know full well that once the Yes deal is signed, it won't matter one jot who is the Ups PM.

    Feckers.

Legal "Leave" dates - 12 Apr if the WA passes, 22 May if not. EDIT: Whoops, wrong way around!

That leaves ample time for Remain fuckery from the EU and their pet UK PM.

My thanks to @PaulPhillips for correcting my tired mistake : o )

  12. So why should people not born in Scotland be allowed to vote in IndyRef2 when people not born in the U.K. could not vote in the Euro referendum?

Personally, I prefer the original franchise of everyone living in Scotland being allowed to vote. Particularly, since 11/12 English people I know voted for independence.

I want you to justify your argument in a different sphere.

You were saying something about me not understanding democracy?

I think you have double standards and I would like you to prove otherwise

  13. Struggling are we?

If you are old enough to pay tax you are old enough to vote.

The concept of the franchise was fair and simple. It was not about where you were from. It was about where you lived, for the simple reason it didn’t affect people who don’t live in Scotland

  14. Relax. Mays deal is not going through. Bercow has said it must be substantially different for it to be presented again before it can even be put to MPs.

Even if it does get the approval, the DUP and the ERG won’t back it.

There does not appear to be time to repeal Article 50 from the statute books.

So unless someone, somewhere in this Mexican stand off backs down, we are leaving on 29/3 with no deal.

    Examples being,

    1) the EU on the backstop
    2) the DUP on the backstop
Both assume Mays deal will still be allowed MV3 and it passes
    3) May quits and calls a GE and the EU allows a longer extension. HoC amends the law to move back the 29/3 date
    4) Labour backing Mays deal.

Anyone see any of these happening?

The EU have agreed to extend the date but we have yet to amend legislation to take up the offer

  15. The two situations are not analogous.

The EU is not a single country. It is a collection of formerly autonomous countries being sucked into a proto-empire which is intent upon acquiring sovereign nations and wearing the skins of the conquered people for clothing.

    Whereas -

The UK is a single country.

I am pleased and proud to have been able to assist you in this matter.

People are liable to tax on income, from birth, and are entitled to personal allowances.

I have long maintained that children capable of holding a crayon in their pudgy little hands are entitled to vote.

  16. Hahahaha. Bless.

Bercow will do what is good for Bercow, if Bercow knows what's good for him. And he does.

The ERG is crumbling faster than an inexpertly-made oatmeal cookie.

The Remainer Government will work with its handlers to ensure that any extension required to place the UK back on the path of Remain is put in place.

Have you not been following the "Brexiteer" defections over the past week or two?

  17. Watched the votes last night, the one that was close (very close) was Kenneth Clarkes proposed motion J. Customs union.
Way more votes than the governments deal or no deal have ever achieved. Funny old BBC saying it was defeated but they dont seem to grasp how this has been set out. It was an indicative vote to find the most popular way(s) forward. Narrow down the options, return Monday and carry on with the process.
    motion J;
'' ensure that any Withdrawal Agreement and Political Declaration negotiated with the EU must include, as a minimum, a commitment to negotiate a permanent and comprehensive UK-wide customs union with the EU;''
Seemed to be no appetite for no deal, or no customs union, or Mays deal.

  18. I agree, no taxation without representation; except prisoners.
