1299 1299 Fe Oil Leak.

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by r15suk, Mar 30, 2019.

  1. After getting back from a shortish ride today, i noticed some oil had flicked up onto both sides of my rear tyre. Strange I thought, then i noticed it was dripping onto the ground just below the front of the fairing. A good few thimbles full i would have thought. Stopped dripping when the engine had cooled down. It had its 600 mile service about 600 miles ago, so nothing new to cause it.

Anyone had similar happen to them?

    thanks
    Simon

  2. check the oil filter is tight

  3. sometimes the mechanic is lazy and leaves a pool of oil in the plastic shield under the sump plug

  4. However it was 600 miles since he did the service.

  5. Simon, check the oil cooler and hoses, make sure all unions are tight and that its not rubbing anywhere.
You may recall the oil cooler on my 998 rubbing through on the V panel on the way back from the ring some years ago, it was the same symptoms as yours o_O

I hope its something like that and nothing more serious :worried:

Just remembered, I did have an oil pressure switch fail too that leaked oil, but not heard that happen on any recent models

  6. Thanks John. Spoke to Snells and they said it might be a seal behind the oil radiator (something like that), but they need to see it first obviously. They said to call Ducati roadside assistance and they will collect the bike and take it to them.
