Can any Speciale owners please check their front sprockets. After an owner posted up an image on Facebook of their new Speciale, I was intrigued by the unusual looking front sprocket. After much digging around and him giving me the name of his Ducati dealer, they in turn told me that these "silent" sprockets are fitted as standard to the Speciale models only. Here is a link to the manufacturer and some technical info on them. I have also added a couple of images below, one of the bike in question and the other of the sprocket itself. The idea of these sprockets is that the chain partly runs on a rubber inner ring which helps quieten the transmission down and reduce wear. You can see the indentations in the rubber where the side plates press against it. https://www.ognibenechaintech.com/en/prodotti/6/ingranaggi-OE.html
Don't believe the silencing is intrinsically linked to greater life... marketing bollocks I think. "The rubber profile applied on both sides guarantees noise reduction, which is at least 2 db more than conventional kits, thereby extending transmission life". April fool...
No mate it's all legit. Just wondered why it's only on the Speciale? Not seen it fitted to any other V4 and scant info about it, hence waiting to hear from other owners of the model on here, to corroborate things.
Just been to have a look at mine but it doesn’t look the same. Probably just been April fooled but hay ho ☺️
M&P stock them: but they say the design is new - but they also say it's used by OEM too so contradict themselves in the sales spiel… https://www.mandp.co.uk/367103r15-silent-front-steel-sprocket.html
It is fitted to my Speciale too, delivered in October last year but designated a 2019 model by Ducati. Andy
Not suggesting they are, merely curious that Ducati have chosen to fit it to one specific model in the V4 range and only from 2019. Notwithstanding they are nothing new, I've never seen one on any Ducati I have owned for the last 20 years and certainly never heard of "Ognibene" before. Just bemused by the sporadic use of them as OEM fitment.
