1200 DVT Cat Converter

  1. HI all,
I have a multi 1200s 2016 and interested in eliminating the exhaust cat converter.
Is it possible to use a non catalytic link pipe and keep using the original silencer end can.
I like the look of the original. Any advice appreciated.

  2. Welcome John.
You can do what you asked, but you will end up with a very loud exhaust. All the silencing is done in the cat and the OE tailpipe has no baffles. What most of us do is eliminate the cat with a link pipe and have an aftermarket slip-on silencer which still gives good sound but doesn't upset the neighbours and alarm the horses. I don't know of a tailpipe that looks like the OE end can, but there is a good selection of alternatives.
Prices range for a full system from the reasonable (eg Arrows @ circa £800) to the ridiculous (eg Termi @ circa £1800)

  3. Yes it is possible but the exhaust will be very loud. I finally gave up and fitted a Leo Vince road legal can with a removable baffle. Andy

  4. Thanks for the replies guys.
Looks like that's not an option I live in a housing estate.
Yes had been looking at the Arrow works titanium silencer and link pipe. Is it straight forward to fit or will there be a fuelling issue/ engine management lights. Is it a case of replace and go. I imagine there is sensors attached to the original Cat that will have to be sorted !! Anybody got experience with a change to a decat system ?

  5. I have an Arrows full system which I fitted myself. No fuelling issue, and no engine management lights. The kit includes a simple way of blocking the exhaust flapper operating cable and fooling the valve sensor. Apart from that one there are no other sensors involved. The lambda sensors are in the header pipes and they remain, the link pipes fitting to them.
If you have a modicum of mechanical nous it is an easy job, just take your time. You'll be amazed how heavy the cat is and you'll save several kilos with the new system.

  6. I’ve tried decats etc. I now have the Leo slip on on with the boat anchor and it sounds good. Slightly louder than stock, I would like it a bit louder, but, the induction roar is magnificent and I wouldn’t want to lose that.
