I got on the M40 at Junction 2 yesterday on the 1299, filtering out into the fast lane and then noticed a bloody camera van on the bridge!! He was positioned right in the middle of both fast lanes, my question is would he be looking at traffic coming towards him or away? I was travelling northbound going towards him but would he be able to get my plate after I had gone under the bridge? I think I was going 80 odd, I was only on the motorway for 1 junction! Had a lovely runout yesterday but now I’m worried as I’ve got 6 points already. I’m starting to think whether it’s worth riding on the road anymore, fast bikes are becoming pointless!! Bastards!!
At 80-odd they might not bother (as long as you weren't filtering or doing a wheelie!). That's one of the few (probably the only) good thing about the vans, the operator as, I believe, some discretion? Good luck.
Just received my fixed penalty notice, three points/£100 fine.(can't remember the last one that i received as it's been so long) Travaling through croydon a couple of weeks ago on the triple bypass with no speed signs in place You have been warned
If he’s on the bridge and facing you then you should be ok. The bridge width will prevent him from seeing you after you have passed.
to bust a few myths.. the camera can ping you both directions to and away if it has line of sight its pinged you generally before you see it. They also record on video movements in both directions just in case you thought they didn't get your number. the parking of vans can happen...but are you going to check first? if you pass the camera you are pinged and recorded, the only reasons you might not be prosecuted go along the lines of 1) you were under the set limits, 2) there were several vehicles shot contesting which vehicle it was. the camera teams have for several years now done their homework on the locations they use and all will comply with the rules they set out for a prosecution. of course if you have enough money to employ the slimiest of slim you may well wriggle out on a technicality...good luck.
Be careful along the Beaconsfield - High Wycombe stretch as the vans are frequently there. Also between Stokenchurch and Thame junctions. Hope you got away with it, be surprised if not. Richard
on a recorded van id say no, the evidence is assessed and filtered out accordingly back at the main office. if its a hand held device, or a follow by a vehicle id say potentially....
It was between Beaconsfield and Loudwater, I’ve seen them there before but I was enjoying myself and totally forgot!
Loads of them around Silverstone and the surrounding roads yesterday... almost gunned it off a roundabout but decided better of it..thankfully I didn't as the car directly behind me was an unmarked focus that put its blues and 2s on about 10 seconds later.. Buggers spoiling all the fun!
I can't remember exactly what the rule is, but the signs must be displayed or you don't have to pay - provided you contest it.
Think you’re find that if no speed limit signs are displayed with street lights on the road it is always a 30mph zone. Be careful as a lot of those 30’s are becoming 20’s !
Yes I think is is the case in urban areas. I don't know about "triple bypass" in Croydon - I always thought that was something to do with you heart!
Think the triple bypass beats at 30 beats a min ha! You wouldn’t guess I’d just been on a speed awareness course last week would you Try me on another while it’s fresh in my mind
