Hi, can anyone recommend a good front paddock stand for the V4? The only one I can seem to find is Con Stands and I am not sure of the quality. I have an R&G rear stand and also an ABBA stand with front lever adapters (or whatever they are called so i can lift the front and rear) but the ABBA is a faff having to take the bottom section of fairing off everytime I want to use it. Thanks, Richard
Hi, you have the Skylift, mine is the superbike stand with front wheel lifting arms. I did have a look at if I could lift it without fairing bottoms removal, but it looked like a no (and the ABBA site says you have to remove the fairing lowers).
Personally having just messed around with Panigale and 848 front stands I would just use my Abba stand with a rear lift kit if it were me.
Simon - thank you, they look good and are certainly an option along with the Harris. Phill - thanks. I have seen that on the 959 Pani's some people say that you can use the ABBA Superbike stand without removing the lowers, just loosen the rear most fastenings. Have you had any success with your ABBA stand on a v4 without fairing lower removal? I really dont want to crack the plastics!
sorry mate my Panigale was a 899 so I had to remove the fairing lowers, but the front end is so tight that even with a front stand that fits it doesn't leave much room to work. I decided it's worth the time to remove the fairing lowers to get a really good mounting on the stand, and now on my 848 I use it like that also. The only issue is if you want to remove the rear AND front suspenstion at the same time, but I guess you could pull it down off some other point
I have the base V4 and the standard Abba stand and it is ok without taking off the fairings. It does just touch the fairing but it is ok. Suspect Abba just being careful with the comment.
Old Badger, that is fantastic news. Any tips /tricks/things to watch out for when doing it (such as removing / loosening fastenings first), or is it a case of steady as she goes? Got any pics of it actually done?
No pics, bike is in for yearly service and remaining recalls so won’t get it back till possibly next week. Will get a pic for you as soon as I can though. I was the same as yourself and hesitated ordering the adaptor but I think it was Ian that originally said it was ok so I ordered them then. It is quite tight and it just touches the very edge of the plastic but I didn’t need to slacken any screws. Did think about slackening the screws but it looked ok when up. Yes the first time I used I was careful but no real concerns now.
Look forward to the pics. Good luck with the recalls - mine goes in for exhaust valve cables later this month - once they gave me the date the bloody light went out!
I have a Constands both front and rear, very happy with them. https://www.motea.com/en/motorcycle-front-paddock-stand-constands-falcone-314944-0 https://www.motea.com/en/constands-...5-17-schwarz-hinterrad-einarmstander-387912-0
Pictures as promised. Sorry for delay just got the bike back from getting all the recalls done now. Two pictures from left side and two from the right each side has a picture of the Abba stand up and down. Hopefully That makes sense. You can see the left side is ok but the right side just touches the lower fairing but is not a problem. https://drive.google.com/file/d/17je7vuwq9hvQg1pJDVTcMDayTv8QEDDZ/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Zg_pHOrhJ44mj4QERbVSuIEw3A10ckEY/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1O9-D_nwlxo7oU_eARD4V3WVnZexWeVeO/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1873Fay7CsEMha34z0ec8bZw8j_3hF_Gj/view?usp=drivesdk
