Just got back from picking up my new 1199 and have a couple of minor jobs to do before I get out and about on it. Has a Ducati Performance oil sump catch tank fitted so need to whip this off and fit the fan I’ll be selling this part soo - I’m presuming that just fits on and the 2 wires plug back in to the loom and good to go? There is also a solenoid on top with a cable - what’s that for? Some kind of exhaust solenoid or something?

Ok here goes There is a 2002 748R with 7k miles. She is a beauty. The 98 916SPS with 9k miles. Both of these are pretty standard but very clean bikes The panigale is 6k miles, and upgrades with the following Ohlins FGk224 cork catridges, Öhlins TTX36GP shock, forged R marchesinis, Ohlins steering damper, 70mm corse termi system, loads of carbon and also have some corse rearsets to go on. The delta has a few mods. Ported flowed and polished head, full engine rebuild, hybrid turbo, chip, running around 300hp Clio 172 CUP is standard just refreshed all suspension and uprated the front brakes. This is a stabdardish road car but for track days.

Thanks Nigel. You might like a couple of the stable which I have recently sold on. My mk1 cortina GT I restored, sold it late summer. And my RG500 I restored which I sold about 2 weeks ago!

Thanks, that Mexico is the dogs - worth big money these days. I got out of the classic ford scene as was fed up with being on edge that it was going to get nicked! The RG was a cool bike for sure but it got to a point where they were worth so much I couldn’t justify keeping it when I could do other things - I had my new car nicked so needed to free up some cash to buy another car and do some DIY and take the family on holidays etc
The asking price for a Mexico is indeed high (do they really sell for that?), but are they really worth it??? A fairly ordinary modern would run rings round it in probably every department... And I speak as someone who, like Nigel, had one back in the day (in red though). No ambition to own another one.
Classic car ownership is not about how fast it is, it’s much more than that. Add a bit of nostalgia, a bit of speculation, some rose tinted glasses and a want to do something with your money rather than leave it to do nothing in the bank. They are trading hands for crazy money, my cortina sold for close to £30k last summer and had a queue of buyers wanting to part with their hard earned for it..
I don't disagree with you at all, just think it's a pity that the "speculation" bit takes many vehicles - with two or four wheels - out of reach of those who might enjoy them for the "nostalgia" reasons. Each to their own though.
Yes it’s painful to say the least. I’m A big fan of classic two strokes, back from when they cost a few hundred quid - the market for these has gone daft now people Paying top money for them when they had no interest in them when they were cheap crap
