1200 R Tyre For Touring, Commuting And Gentle Playing

  1. My bike has 800 miles on a set of Pirelli Diablo super corsa tyres and I read these only last 1-2000 miles.

I’m going on a 2000 mile tour in June. Other than that my bike is for spirited weekend ride outs and commuting an 80 mile round trip once or twice a week when the weather is good.

What tyres would you recommend? I know it’s really subjective but I haven’t got a clue.

  2. The Supercorsas. They'll last longer than 2k. I do a 1.7k alpine trip every yr on 1299 and my tyres are fine. We dont do autoroutes, only departmente and nationale's. I get 3kish from mine and could prob stretch to 4k, but I do about 3.5k/yr so new tyres prior to alps every yr.

  3. I got 3000 out of my Super Corsa's. Fitted Rosso 3s for my trip to Aragon MotoGP last year, almost 3000 mile trip and they are still lasting well. Pic from when they were just fitted, hence the chicken strips.

  4. If you ride like Motogp rider you’ll get fewer miles. If you ride like the rest of us you’ll get 3000-3500 miles out of the rear

  5. On that basis I should be good for 5000 miles :)

I will probably end the tour on 3500 miles. That’s awkward. Have to decide whether to change them before or after.

  6. You could always change them on tour if needs be. I’m sure there’ll be a motorcycle tyre dealer somewhere on route.

  7. Change them on the tour if needed. I'm sure there are tyre changing facilities on the continent :)

  8. Haha, great minds Paul:upyeah:

  9. Although I'm a fan of SC's especially on my 959 Panigale, I did not like them on the Monster.
I don't ride both bikes the same way or for the same reasons. I'm throttle smooth on the Pani while rambunctious on the Monster.
I ride the Monster sometimes in the wet and in the cold where the SC's just don't work right.
I replaced them with Rosso III. No regrets.

  10. Rambunctious exactly describes my riding style on the monster! It’s a very naughty bike :)

  11. I believe the Rosso III are "the" tires for that bike. However, given that you're leaving for a 2000 mile tour I would put a Rosso III up front, and an Angel GT out back. No sense grinding down a softer Rosso III just on one touring trip. Replace the Angel GT with a Rosso III upon your return.

  12. Well my decision got made for me re whether to keep using the current tyres or buy new ones :) I got a nail in my rear tyre.

I had a new set of Rosso III's fitted.

Got the Supercorsa repaired and will use them on a track day (if i do one).

  13. Cool. Save the fucked tyre for when you’re going REALLY fast :upyeah:

What could possibly go wrong? :)
