hi all I am interested in your experience with rearsets and the 1299. Did you fit aftermarket for the bling? Or to improve rider position when braking and cornering on track? How have you found the rearsets if you bought them for rider position?
Gotta be honest, I’m a bit of a tackle tart. I bought the Rizoma rear sets for the V4S. They do look great but they’re functional too. Very grippy with race shift option. Excellent product but not cheap. Probably alternatives that are cheaper and equal to the task. Loads out there
I have DP rearsets on my 1299. Combined with a comfort seat, theyre bang on perfect for me. (5'8", 10.5st...ok 11st ffs) Although I do get numb tootsies on right foot. The DP are expensive, but great quality, plus you can race shift em or normal shift em easily. Takes 5-10mins. They seem to position me well, I also added a raceseat tank extender and now my position seems to be nigh on perfect. I could use some stormgrip on the subframe covers, the tank ones arent good enough on their own.
Thanks guys I find i tend to slip forward into the tank which is fine on a 749R but it doesn’t work on a 1299. So been looking at the tank extenders too. Relative to the original footpeg position, where do you reckon your pegs are now? Farther back? Higher?
Theyre higher and a little bit back, they seem to fit the race n comfort seat better than the oem seats flatter profile, so combined the position is better. But yes you slip forward still, but it is much improved. The raceseat extender is pretty good and helps a great deal, but I just need some grip on subframe cover. Ill buy a universal and just cut a bit to fit.
Tbh I didn’t even notice so they must be there abouts.... I’d be a shit test rider eh? But they do look cool.... and that’s extremely important
also a vote for the above comments, i have DP rearsets and the DP race seat and one seems not to work that well without the other.. but together a great package. but they need a good application of Loctite, and also to check if used, that the small location Dowl is fitted to the footrest peg mount. if not they can rotate and then loose grip. a word of warning, the spare parts are not cheap, so dont be tempted to buy a second hand damaged set, with the intention of doing them up on the cheap... as most of the small parts are 'Corse catalogue' and the price reflects this
I have CNC Racing rearsets on mine. I put them on to reduce the gear lever throw. I found the OEM throw to be too big. I was getting false neutrals all over the place with my size 7 feet. With the rearsets fitted I rarely get false neutrals now. Position wise they are up and back compared to OEM. These too can do road or race shift pattern. I have used race in the past but I am back on road pattern for the foreseeable future.
I’d highly recommend a tank extender if you’re tracking it. I use standard rearsets as they are just right for me plus I refuse to spend a fortune on bling rearsets that are not properly adjustable like many for the Pani. That said I am getting annoyed with the way the stock ones fold up as I like to hook my feet in front of them and they sometimes fold up.
Been looking at those. The large capacity carbon fibre tanks also look useful in providing more leg and body support. https://www.dennispowersport.com/pr...e-fuel-tank-oversized-25l-capacity-by-fullsix Not sure how leak proof they are.
Lightech are definitely worth a shout.... used quite a few sets over the years! Well built, great adjustability, strong, Fit and finish is also Top quality.... As used by many race teams. Spares also ready available.
Hi Dave I like the carbon fibre. Where did you get that from? Do you find the carbon exhaust heat shield does a better job of keeping the heat off of your Ktech shock?
I’ve had Gilles, DP, giamoto and rizoma rearsets and the rizoma ones are the best by far followed by giamoto
Carbon is Fullsix .... But the heat shield came from RSR Moto..... funny thing is it's identical weave and finish of the Fullsix but half the cost....Haven't really noticed any decrease in heat but then again I've not really had any issues like others as I invested in some thermodynamic underpants!!! The cover is literally just a cover.... purely cosmetic. The Tin heat shield still fits underneath. Lovely stuff to look at but be warned about slight variations in panel fit and finish! Remember this is aftermarket stuff.... just putting out there.....Shop around for some good deals
My AKRA heat shield has DE Gold tape. As does my seat. Makes it look Maclaren F1 blingin Bloody dear tho. Works too. I also have Lieb Speed carbon subframe cover and its heat shield. All in its a lot lot better in >30°C conditions.
