Looks like I have a leak think it is in the mid section but not looked properly yet Where is the best place to by a mid- pi or other parts for the exhaust pipework please>?
I don't really know what a mid- pi is so I can't imagine where you have an issue.........but half the time, the exhausts only want taking apart and cleaning before reassembly..........IMO the most likely place for a leak is where the headers meet the link pipes....You can cure that with silicone gasket stuff. Have you got the stock zorst fitted? AL
The 600ss uses a 2 into 1 system made from mild steel which rots the front header/down pipe. Could be repairable.
Not had a proper look yet but felt it and seemed to be blowing in the middle of the Horizontal piece after the 2 into 1
I've got a 600 Monster midpipe section in the workshop that came with a box of bits when I was building the Monster, I believe it is the same as an SS? It's a bit scruffy & could do with a clean/polish but looks to be leak-fee and serviceable - If you collect or pay the postage you can have it...
Looked this morning and its actually the front cylinder downpipe that has corroded all the way around just in front of the join Assume this isnt what you have DukeDesmo? Thanks for the offer though - appreciated Cornish - yes I would like the downpipes but no idea what they are worth - can you let me know what you are looking for? I am based in Leeds
Here's a pic of what I've got. Looks rusty but it's actually stainless steel so would clean up nicely, the underside has a small scrape that looks like the bike's been ridden down a curb or something but it appears to be intact. There is a part no. stamped into the big pipe; 570.1.029.1A AFAIK it's from a '99 600 Monster carby which I believe is the same as an SS. If it's any use the offer stands, I would just send it but the postage wouldn't be cheap as it's quite bulky & heavy.
The early 600ss is a 2 into 1 system. Although a '99 600, they're the same as the early 750 and 900 not the 600. Saying that, they will fit if you want a twin pipe conversion but you will compromise on performance.
Where in the country are you Loverobot? If you're anywhere near Nottingham (specifically Mansfield) I know a really good exhaust guy who would make you a new section at a good price. He did a full set of pipes to convert my 600ss into an underseat exhaust for about £250
OK, didn't know they were 2 into 1. Those that I've got are for a 600/750 but 900 are a little different as the pipes are longer, I had to buy a new set for my bike.
Dukedesmo - they are definately different to those in your pic - thanks for taking the trouble and the offer - really appreciated Kenoir - I am Leeds based but tbh like the bike standard especially as its my commuter bike and my two others have underseat pipes Cornish - thanks got your pic and looks to be exactly what I need - will ping you some cash tonight Thanks guys
Well, if you need him I'm sure he'd make you a replacement section for the piece you need; JAC Performance Exhaust Systems His name is Wayne Jackson
That looks like a monster set up so dont think it fit an SS as the cross section is different as well as pipes at different angles. Or at least I think it was when I tried to fit one, and its why you cant take a 2:1 SS system and put it on a Monster
