1299 Suspension Setup On 1299s

  1. Hi guys,
Can you advise me please ,
I’m going to get my suspension set up by Brian over in Twickenham on Monday and I’m little bit unsure of how it works.
Currently using the dynamic suspension setting with front and rear on the hardest settings.
Brian is going to set it up in the manual mode and I wanted to know if this will now be the bikes base setting and the electronics will still adjust whilst riding ? Or will it just stay as it’s been set ?

  2. I’ve got one...
Static mode is just like a traditional suspension except that you adjust the damping settings from the dash instead of using a screwdriver.
Dynamic allows the suspension ECU to play with the damping based on your riding. AFAIK the two modes are independent. So the static settings have no influence over the hardness or softness of the suspension when it is in dynamic mode. I have set the sag on mine and setup the static mode settings for Race, Road and Wet riding modes. I haven’t used dynamic since.

  3. Thankyou brother

  4. Are you sure he’s doing the manual setup? The dynamic suspension is way way better on the road than anything someone could setup because it’s constantly adjusting to conditions.

Perhaps he’s doing the manual preload adjustments ?

  5. Keep us informed. Brian did my 1198 and it was spot on. Just needed to back off rebound on rough roads 1 click. My 1299s could use his input too. Currently have the dynamic set to ‘harder’ on all settings as it tended to squat and pump when giving it the berries out of a tight corner.

  6. I’ll know the specifics when I get there but he said it’s about 2 hours of riding , testing , adjusting. He’s so meticulous .
    Have a look a Brian’s Facebook
