My 748R has done 43k and just had a full rebuild. It done 42,998 by 2012 and sat in a garage until I bought it last year!
My 996 is the wrong side of 50000 miles, had 1200 on it when I bought it at 12 months old in 2001, multiple euro trips, over 100 track days and broke down once at c45000 miles when the reg rec failed in France. Not been ridden for c2 years as is mothballed at a friend's place as I bought a replacement track bike. Planning to recommission it at some point.
Good work fella, I do intent to increase my paltry mileage up to those levels - assuming I live that long
I’ve done 38000 on my 2004 998, not used it for 4 years due to illness, still like to look at it though.
Several. All the issues associated with 748/96/996 it has had. Busted engine cases. Yup at 55k. Flaking rockers yes I lost count at 7. Currently the engine has a st3 alternator cover, 749 starter gears, 900ss crank, hyper 1100 primary drive gears, st4s pistons and jugs, 748 tranny gears 1-5, 748r intake cams, sps exhaust cams, ergal shift drum, s4r monster adjustable cam pulleys... I’m sure I’m forgetting some things. It’s a bit of a parts bin bike.
Shorty - Can I ask how come it is ULEZ exempt? I thought vehicles had to be over 40 years old to be exempt.
Ironbutt, How do you like the 748R&SPS cam combo? Why this combo and not full SPS? Curious because I am installing 748R in&ex cams in my 888. Jacco
They were in an ex-race motor I bought. That's why I went with them. Bruce from BCM fame put that motor together. On the dyno I got as much horsepower out of it as I did my High comp 1036 kit. Sadly, the 1036 pistons and rings wore out and I haven't replaced them yet.
92363 km. Engine untouched, not even rocker arms. Most reliable vehicle I have owned. 1998 916, bouht by me in 2000 with 12000 km on.
