Happened to me back around 2002 on a Monster 1000, didn’t write her off but cost £1500 in repairs. As I slid down the road I watched the cyclist cycling off looking very sheepish (bastard).
Cock. Able to claim from them? Some cycle club members have insurance as part of it, or see if they have public liability elsewhere
Shit! what happened? Please don't say they just rode off? If you've got their details you (they) may find they're covered under their household policy, but your insurer will chase them for that.
The accident happened on the junction of Askwith Moor Road on Bluberhouses, The cyclist left the scene after giving false details, the police put an appeal out on social media & fortunately the slime ball was grassed up, he won’t pass on any details of liability insurance at the moment, I was left with 4 breaks 5 fractures & a punctured lung & spent 7 days in hospital after throwing myself down the road rather than broadsiding him,
Should have run the bastard over cyclist are a scourge on our roads most of inconciderate shits who think there above the RT road traffic rules
I thought I recognised the road. I live in York. That sounds like a bad one, main thing, you’re alive. I hope you heal well man and get back on the road as soon as you are ready.
False details are effectively admitting liability. I'd take the fucker to court if you can't claim off his house insurance.
That's really crap. Hope you mend soon, bikes are easier to replace than bikers. What is it with people not wanting to claim on there insurance? My wife scrapped a car a few weeks back in a car park. We found and told the owner, let insurance do it's job and my insurance went up £30 as I have protected NCB. And my conscience and karma are all clear.
Thats a really terrible story, your injuries are very serious and the guy is lying whilst trying to avoid his insurance paying out... Once you are well enough, lets crowd fund a court case to go the fcuker.
If it was me I would just let your insurance sort it out and sue the shit out of the cyclist for personal injury It's about time these twats were regulated and made to carry insurance
^^ +1 for what T500 said above. Cyclists should have insurance and need to follow the rules of thread as much as any other vehicle. Mind you the police should pursue him for giving false details when involved in, or the cause of, an RTA.
Hope you'r not in to much pain @grippy. I'd look into suing the shit through his house insurance if he doesn't have liability cover, but if he's prepared to give false details I would hazard a guess he ain't got any. And I'd be wary of chucking good money after bad. GWS
The cyclist in this incident is a tool and I’m very sorry to hear your story. However not all cyclists are muppets, just as not all motorcyclists are speeding, wheeling nutters.
