Keyless fuel cap

  1. Does anyone on here have any experience of comments whether positive or negative please?
    Cheers

  2. Keyless fuel caps? becuase using the key is such a chore!

  3. I use them on most of my bikes , just because I like the look of them over standard

  4. Not that type, the Multistrada electric keyless one.
I'm off touring abroad next month and kind of like the idea that should I lose my key I can carry on touring without it.
However, what you can't do if you lose it is open the fuel flap.
Witha keyless one you can as it unlocks for 60 seconds once the bike is turned off.

  5. I've got a "dumb" key which will open the fuel filler and unlock the seat. I keep it on the same keyring as the chain/lock key. I found that I managed to leave the "smart" key in the undersea lock twice by mistake. One time I drove off before getting the 'key missing' message (Luckily it didn't fall out) and the other time it was left in the lock all day in a bike bay in London!

Not sure where the key came from but I think it's a sensible precaution.

  6. Done that quite a few times when accessing the seat cover! Good thing it's discreet and not many ppl know how to start the bike...

Keyless fuel cap is great. Just leave the key in my jacket all the time, hardly taking it out. Maybe that's why I leave it in the seat lock! Less fumbling around while fueling. Allows me to leave my gloves on until I need to pay.

  7. I had the keyless fitted,
V Happy no problems one problem less when filling.
Still trying to find a spare Dunb key for luggage etc but struck out, anyone here found somewhere that can supply/cut them other than official replacement Ducati!

  8. I've got the keyless filler, fitted it myself and really glad I got it, much faster and easier to use than having to use the key!
Keep the key in my pocket all the time now, only ever need it if I fit my panniers
Don't even need it to release the seat as I've made that pop open by fitting an electrical solenoid operated by a push button switch neatly hidden away!

  9. Personally not attracted to the electronic keyless fuel filler but I do fancy one of these!

  10. I prefer the look, but would always worry about people messing around (i.e. putting stuff into) with my tank when parked up, or even stealing fuel

  11. Another positive for the leccy keyless cap - so easy to use for fill ups and secure when the bike's parked up.
    Simples!

  12. Have you posted a thread on the solenoid fitting?

  13. +1 on that, thats a cool idea, push button seat release, please more info with pics.

  14. Hi guys

No never posted a thread on how to do, did it between this site becoming up and running and the old one over xmas time, something to do whilst the weather was crap and a few days off work!

    Easy enough to do...
Ill get round to posting some pics and info asap
I used one of these off e-bay if you want to have a go, cheap enough, and quite powerfull

  15. Where did you mount the solenoid, it the boot itself I assume?

  16. No, under the riders seat, managed to strap it to the suspesion unit, easier to fit the pull cable to the seat catch

Ill try n post some pics if i get chance when i get home tonight

  17. so has it a failsafe for opening if the electronics on it fails??

  18. Yes use the key, as you normally would...

  19. oh right, never have looked one up for I have only used
    race style ones.

  20. oh sorry phantom, thought u meant the seat solenoid...?
I guess u were talking about the filler cap? No there is no fail safe on the Ducati keyless fuel filler as far as I know
Guess u would have to unbolt it if it failed...
But I'm happy to say never had a problem, watch it fail now!!!!
