Steer clear of two piece on track imho, having seen the bruises and damage caused by the zip in a spill And avoid the newer FT stuff, its shite!!
Have had wolf/astars and dainese and would probablly go with the dainese as the best ones, all good just like the feel of the dainese stuff, pretty expensive though. My bayliss jacket looks sweet too
Crowtree for me and i would buy them again if they were still available. i read earlier on up the thread that they may be. Give them a call and get in there if they are.Nothing else is better for the money. Only BKS made to measure, not that off the peg stuff is better quality but at a price. AL's experience says : Consider this when thinking of a one-piece for road use......... ......Limited pocket capacity (a one piece looks daft with pockets on the outside and even worse with your fags and lighter giving you a small pair of t*ts if you use inside pockets) ..... having an urgent need of a toilet and getting the zip down far enough (and just try getting the d*mn thing off your arms and down far enough when inside the cubicle....if it isn't down far enough, well, you know...) ......walking around the race circuit or the pub garden when the weather is unbearably hot (with rigid arm armour, you end up looking like the goddess Shiva) ......However if going racing a one piece is a certainty (and unless the Rules have changed, they are compulsory).... Not good advice, though, if you suffer from pre-race nerves or have had a couple of 'off' trackside hot-dogs and you need to go in a hurry........Remember the Snetterton bogs? (Not much better now...) Leathers down, sit down, leathers swimming in p*ss and other cr*p on the floor. AL
I have a set off wolfs that have bounced and stood up very well. Also recently purchased another set for the summer (here's hoping) perforated 'roo skin. I did splash on a set of dainese, didn't really like them, didn't feel good on, felt flimsy and flappy, I also have a dislike of massive areo humps!
Wasn't it James Whitham who after crashing somewhere said to the Marshal "what's that smell?" and the Marshal said "it's you Jamie....you've shit yourself!".......came out like a toothpaste tube!
I had a one-piece made by these guys for racing. It crashed well and I would certainly recommend them. They used to own the Wolf brand before selling it on but have retained the right to use patterns and logos. I think they charged about 550-600 for a made to measure suit about 6 years ago. Very happy with my alpinestars. If you get a one piece make sure you get an undersuit - its not fun and darn near impossible to remove a tight fitting suit after a hot track day.
For what it's worth, I brought a one peice Alpinestar suit a few years back and use it jsut for track. It fits well, comfortable and it has survived a 100mph off with scuff marks only, and so did I thankfully. So Alpinestar gets my vote.
Mine are the original Swift leathers (one piece) high quality very thick but supple cowhide; lined and Protek armour was fitted throughout (cost about £900+ in 1990) but I removed the thigh; shoulder and b*llock protector; tried the back protector but couldn't get on with it, so left the shin and forearm protectors in and just added the chest protector when racing. Also cut out the arm and half the leg linings because it used to stick to me and I couldn't move. Still supple and very usable which is more than I can about me.... AL
I have never found off the peg that fit well - which is why I'm off to BKS The range for 'ladies' is at best poor and the changing rooms are never big enough as I found out when I nearly fell out of one at Infinity - then had to ask the teenage staff to 'help' me out of the trousers Ducati Aylesbury wasnt much better And no I dont want the flowery option
I think I read somewhere that trying on wetsuits is even more embarrassing for most women - having to be helped out of them by male staff. But then maybe there are girls who go around trying on all the wetsuits they can. :smile:
I'll willingly get the hose out and soak one of my pinstripe suits if a girl wants to put it on......with my assistance of course....
