Well it doesn't look quite as slick as it did but I have just fitted the DP rear luggage rack to my 1100 evo sp corse. Personally I think it is a price worth paying as I'm no rucksack fan and especially when carrying a chain. The DP rear tail bag fits it well although I modified the strap that holds it to include a quick releas buckle so it can be fitted or removed in under 5 seconds. It was fairly simple to fit the rack once I figured out that, aside of the small allen screw under the seat, the mini fairing above the rear light is held onto the grab rail with velcro and being brave and giving it a yank saw it removed nicely. The rack itself fits well although it would be good if there was a little more adjustment in the seat location allen screw so I could slide the seat a cm or so further forward - may get a custom bracket made as there is a slight gap between the tank and the seat, which happens to be my newly acquired DP race seat
There is - loosen those two screws either side of the the threaded insert that mates with the allen key then it can slide in the slots. I have just fitted the DP Comfort seat and it leaves a gap too even with adjustment :frown:. The front of the seat is hard up against the tank so the seat cant go any further forward but there is a wee gap at the sides that need the seat further forward to cure.
Thanks for the tip but I have it fully adjusted as far forward as it will go and its not enough hence why I'm contemplating getting a new bracket made up.
We fitted one to my mate's Hyper and had the same problem, but it was easily fixed by drilling and tapping new mounting holes for the seat bolt bracket! Be careful as those racks are not very strong at all. Having read loads of comments about them breaking, my mate did a tour and the same happened to his! He was careful not to overload it as well as we knew of the issues.
That's a bit of a shocker, but very good ti know, as it seems well built so am guessing it must be some form of stress fracture although it is fairly rigid. I'll put my engineering cap on later and have a good look at it...
It is indeed. It's been welded up and support flanges added, but is currently off the bike anyway until his next trip. If you check this thread - it says it's only rated for 11lbs!! Cracked Rack - Ducati.ms - The Ultimate Ducati Forum
