  1. got a v4s corse and can’t get the ignition key to fully turn to light up the instrument panel. It won’t switch to the parking light either. It takes the steering lock off and moves round to the next position but that’s it. Rode it all day yesterday with no probs until I parked up. I had been in a bit of traffic and when I stopped the fan was running, I decided to move the bike and as it’s got BikeTrac it needs the ignition on but the key doesn’t work. Any ideas?

  4. Someone's left the carpark spinning a load of shite into the air, and a piece of grit has popped into the key-hole?

    Vacuum it

  5. Before calling Ducati, I would give it a good spray with WD40.

  6. have you tried all the keys?
    Has someone superglued your lock?

  7. Don't o_O It'll be a magnet for detritus.

Yep, use graphite for lubricating locks. :upyeah: You can always scratch a pencil over the key to introduce some.

Anyway, I assume it's under warranty, get it back to your local Ducati emporium and have them sort it. :bucktooth:

  8. Hasn’t it got a dust guard on the KeyEntry though like earlier bikes to stop bigger particles? If it’s left in a public place I wondered if somebody has tampered with it as Peter suggests, as odd to have this suddenly happen.

  9. As well as being a penetrating oil, WD40 breaks down many things, including some glues. Nothing large should be inside the lock unless it was messed with by someone? If some dirt was inside the WD40 would probably dissolve it.

  10. Up date: thanks for the reply’s. sprayed with wd40 and a piece of grit came out. Did about 200 miles in pouring rain yesterday and it must have got washed into the lock image.jpg

  12. Wtf?! In thousands of miles and countless riding bikes and mates riding their bikes, I’ve never heard of that happening before.

You won’t believe what they found when they opened the casing, a revelation all v4 Ducati owners need to know about

  15. So it’s a V4S? So it’s newish? So it’s still under warranty? Why aren’t you getting the dealer to sort it?
