1260 Ducati Voucher....what To Buy?!

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Matt3932, May 27, 2019.

  1. Good evening. In the process of trading in my K1300s for a 1260s. The latter comes with the touring pack, and under the terms o Ducati's current deal, I get the joy of a £1040 voucher also to spend on Ducati bit and pieces....there are worse problems to have!

so, does anyone know how long I have post purchase to use the voucher? ()I'm getting conflicting information from different dealers)

Also, any recommendations on what to get with the voucher? what works, what's a complete waste of time etc?

    Many thanks in advance

  2. An alarm is imho a waste of time, get the BikeTrac gps kit fitted & plonk 3-yr coverage. Don't know if they will allow you to spend a voucher on in-house installed kit from third party.

  3. First, I would not spend on Ducati apparel as theses go periodically on sale.
Consequently, I'd use the credit on Ducati /DP stuff that doesn't.
At the time of my purchase, that credit went on the touring pack and a rear carbon hugger to match the front fender.
Since you already have the touring pack, DP lights may be worthwhile. a full Termi exhaust if you're into that, short levers and reservoirs to replace the urine containers are some of the things I would consider.

  4. Why not ask them to sell you the base bike with the free touring pack upgrade and save the £1000 and no voucher?

  5. How long does the voucher last for?

  6. Keyless fuel cap and tyre pressure monitors?

  7. I had a £500 voucher when I bought the Scrambler 1100 Sport. There's only so many T shirts you can buy.

  8. Thanks very much for the rapid responses.
Was pondering alarm....why is it viewed as a waste of £?

Also pondering termi system, but voucher only covers 50% of cost...still a possibility though

Tyre pressure sensors would be good, as would an extended rear hugger perhaps

I’m not sure how long voucher lasts or indeed how long I have to spend it post purchase, I’ve had conflicting reports from different dealers

  9. What does the dealer you bought the bike from say? They are the one's you'd be dealing with, surely?

  10. Buying...not quite there yet. Their view is that the voucher must be spent at the time of purchase.

Another dealer advised me that it was valid for the financial year the bike was purchased in

Personally I’d like a little time to get to know the bike before deciding where to commit the addtl funds

  11. Thieves take no notice of them. They can interfere with your electrical system if they go wrong. They are a pain in the arse when you are working on your bike. Ditto when on a boat or Eurotunnel. I lost an alarm fob once (luckily when I was coming home) and if I had turned the bike off and it had armed, I was snookered..............

  12. That's bollox. Tell them where to go.

    Is the correct answer.

  13. Aye, because they want you to spend it with them. Tell them that your view is that they can p**s off. :)

    You take your time.

  14. If you can I'd spend it on the extended warranty...

  15. Good if you plan to keep the bike or sell it privately. Not worth anything to a dealer in a trade-in.

  16. Full Termi!

    You won’t regret it.

  17. Warranty is also non refundable if bike gets stolen / written off

  18. It should make no difference ot the dealer.

If its a personal purchase it makes no difference to you either.
If its a business purchase then any accessories purchased at the same time are included in the purchase price for tax reasons (doesnt affect Benefit in kind calcs, only depreciation write down)

For me, No 1 has to be extended warranty. After that, the important things really depend on what you plan to do with the bike.
Having just bought a new bike (albeit an enduro) which is going to be used for touring, my choices were:
    - keyless fuel filler (for the convenience on longer trips)
    - satnav mount (already had it, but would be on my list)
    - radiator guard
    - oil cooler guard
    - cylinder head guard
    - top box (or consider the urban pack if you want the other bits like the tank bag too)

Beyond that, other stuff like paint protection film, crash bungs / wheel spindle sliders

I'm still pondering the TPM Sensors.

Personally I think the full termi is a rip-off. I have chosen to buy the Arrow mid pipe instead, which is still daft money for a bit of pipe, but at £450 a lot easier to swallow than £2k.

  19. Going off tangent for a moment:
I also agree that the Termi full exhaust system is expensive however, a "comparable" system with another brand is not that much less.

Ducati Multistrada 1260 Termignoni Complete Race Exhaust with ECU Upmap: $2,400.
    VS.
    Works Exhaust by Arrow Ducati / Multistrada 1260 S / 2018: $597.60
    A De-Cat Link Pipe by Arrow Ducati / Multistrada 1260 / 2018: $600.30
Then, your have to add the cost of a fuel controller such as Rapidbike $525
Consequently, an full Arrow system, although cheaper, will cost you: $1722.90 and it's not full Titanium.
    VS.
A comparable Titanium full system by Akrapovic with cost you: $2338
    Titanium De-cat pipe: $950
    Titanium Silencer: $863
    Rapidbike $525

  20. Yeah, I get what your saying, but a decat pipe on its own will do most of the goodness of a full system.
It seems all after-market silencers are daft money now, but some are outright crazy (the cost of a full system on a pani FE etc is eye watering)

I don't believe a 'fuel controller' is really needed. Granted it will remap the bike and potentially harness a bit more power / remove flat spots / remove exhaust valve errors, but the bikes run just great without the need of this expense.
Same with the end can, you can run the standard, or have one of your choice. I can buy the Arrow decat pipe for a 1/4 the cost of the termi, or throw in an end can too for still less than half the cost of the termi.

Essentially there are other options out there without the need to spend ~2k on a full system, which leaves more money for beer :beer::beer::beer::yum
