i don’t know if it’s an issue for you but I just designed this set to help with chain tensioning. Spanner and setting gauges
Can you show where the chain measurement would be positioned on the swing arm. (Hope you know what I mean.!)
surely by having a closed 'C' spanner you're making life more complicated as you are having to slide it on at square, open ended 'C' spanners are designed that way and have been for over a hundred years there is no better solution. The chain adjusting gadget looks good, but where does it go?
The c spanner is prone to slipping and therefore wearing the adjuster ring. This greatly reduces the risk of this. The gauges will go there the sticker on the swing arm says to measure. You position them in the middle dip of the chain link and tighten the chain as required.
why not just replicate the standard Ducati tool supplied in the tool roll? there is not Patent on it.
No I’ve tried to make it universal and with many swing arms being different it’s difficult to make it clip on
You would be hard pressed to patent a c spanner but I have tried to make a more robust tool for using at home to reduce the risk of slipping etc.
The larger double sided spanner is a huge improvement over the C spanner, I had one of the original ones which were made for the forum (I think Palmer products took them over).
I like the idea of the spanner. Once located, the chain can be loosened/tightened without need to re-position and it won’t fall off!
A chain measuring device like the Ducati one would be good as it also measures in the correct location. Wish I had one.
I also have one of the original double sided C spanners. It works very well and is the way to go with two way adjustment - no more skinned knuckles. I like the handle on yours if it is removable, as it appears to be held together with two screws. The C spanner I have is one piece so not practical to take away on the bike, but yours should be. Add a little measuring tool al-la PeterT's which is craftily attached and you have a winner.
