I am parked up 8k from bolzano. I set off at 9.30 am. It was misty but no rain. Trundled along through some lovely landscape getting higher and colder.. I seemed to be the only one heading my way for quite a bit... then loads of bikes heading the other direction.. I got to a fork in the road where Ben said turn right... it looked high!!! So I stopped for a ciggy.. 20 odd other bikes stopped there 5 mins later and I got talking to one of em.. A German chap.. they were on a day ride out over the mountain that I was gunna go over.. I told him where I was heading and he laughed.. You can go this way he said but it's 2700 ( don't know if he ment feet or mtrs) and there will be snow!!!! Fuck that... He told me to go the left road so I did.. all was good after 20 mins of Ben telling me to hook a u turn bro... Anyhu I was having a great ride till I got to a round about and the rd I wanted was closed.. Turn around the cop said and take the autobahn 3k back.. So I did.. 5 miles on that and Ben said take the exit.. Fantastic Italian roads.. Oh yeah, at some point I had crossed into Italy. No pomp or ceremony. . After an hour I came to a lil goat trial I was to take, got half way down, rd closed.. The was 2 bmws there scratching their helmets so I rode around them and barriers. It was rough go in and steep. To steep to stop and take pics.. 20 mins later and the cops had closed the road to bolzano for a cycle race!! Turn around and take motorway.. Fuck that.. so I asked cop how long is it closed... 2 hrs.. Park her and go to the bar there and have a beer if you want to wait he said.. so here I sit!!! Pics in the order I took em today...

And bike parking.. the cop asked me to leave keys.. I thought I case he wanted to move it, but he said it was he said it was so he could go for a spin.. so I used some Italian on him!!!
Mtrs Chiz, metres. Don't forget you're in cuntinental europe they're all decimalised there. In plain terms it's 1/3rd the height of Mt Everest and 1/3rd less oxygen than at sea level. Mt Everest is very, very, very high, so 2700mtrs is still very high
