the one on tonight showing about the tas race team but for past 2 nights at 9pm there’s been 2 others one showing last years dean Harrison tussle and last nights showing the 1992 foggy hislop race with hislop on the norton really interesting and worth watching on catchup if you’ve missed them
fascinating the Hislop v Foggy last night, had to laugh when Foggy was explaining how the bike was falling apart but was still feeling good to ride!
And the problem that kept it out of WSBK was rotary capacity can be measured 2 ways Norton argued it was 600cc but measured WSBK method it was 1200cc Although it was a twin rotor therefore a twin Twins were limited to 1000cc at that time
Big,Big Hizzy fan and very sad that he's not here today with his version of events for that particular race year,,,,and great to see foggy squirming in his seat
Amazing how fast the Norton was and that it was so close to blowing up at any second And more than 25years later with all the latest technology they are only roughly 10 %faster , I remember Rossi saying he wouldn’t race round Isle of Man for all the money in the world
Do you remember this onejust amazing http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/motorbikes/2286773.stm
Yes, hizzy was a great talent.... I recall his TT days fondly... Especially the hizzy vs foggy race. In truth, imo, hizzy always had the measure of foggy on the island. Do you recall the rvf year?.... Hizzy was brilliant on it!
Thing that strikes me is that Rossi et al turn up for a race weekend, do lots of practising, then ride one race on a smooth(ish) tarmac circuit with ample run-off space. The road racers over the course of a few days can race several categories from lightweights to full on superbikes, on public roads... Respect. BTW in case anyone thinks I'm Rossi-bashing, same applies to the riders in WSB, BSB etc.
