And I'm Off.. I Really Am This Time

  1. Too close to 9000ft & most likely cold. Besides, high altitude queuing is the latest thing so it might be busy (just like Everest)

  3. Sorry m8, too late in my reply. The Passo di Pennes is 2100m ish, so high and plenty of snow yes so maybe too cold for you.

This was them clearing snow while we waited the other day. It was sunny then so not unpleasant but like you, on our route there, it pissed it down all day. Got significantly wet around my neck despite Goretex kit, hands were wringing wet. Cold too, down to 2°C over Brenner pass. Due to needing to stick with the group every day on the return despite a heavy cold which worsened to pneumonia levels I'm now in Hospital in Reims with liver complications... My bike is now over 100km away parked at a hotel and I'm facing medical repatriation to the UK next week when they've stopped using me as a pin cushion... Lesson learned :worried:

Don't press on regardless if you're feeling unwell. Stop, recover and take it easy.

Loving your trip so far :upyeah:

  14. Yeah, you pay thousands to climb Everest, on the top of the world, and you get stuck in a queue for hours. Eleven people have died already this season - but its nothing whatsoever to do with all the standing around.

I was thinking about doing it myself but now... LOL

  15. I think the current rate for a permit to climb (not any other items) is $9,500 but this year it's more about china taking it over to stop overseas companies pricing out local sherpa working by doing package deals.

The only Chinese Chiz has comes from a menu :D

Sorry to hear of your troubles bumpkin and hope you get back home soon, how are they getting your bike back?

Chiz, you know bologna is italian for bolloxs and bolognese is italian for bolloxs juice?

  16. €8 pizza €2 wine and got... all good!!
Could have done with some pineapple and bbq sauce on the pizza mind... these fuckers may have invented it but they have a lot to learn... 20190529_203510.jpg
