1200 DVT Mil Lights Just Come On

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by RichW, Jun 3, 2019.

  1. Unfortunately just had the MIL light come on. Bikes been great across here at the TT until this morning.

Set off on the bike with my phone charging and a power bank also on charge. Stopped for a break and decided to also put another phone on charge (so both phones charging directly off the battery, power bank through the USB port under the seat).

Within ten minutes the light came on :(

After reading the forum it would seem low battery voltage can cause the light to come on, anyone confirm that could be the cause? Bike seems great just running as normal.

  2. Your battery should be able to continuously charge your phone for many many days, so I find it hard to believe that could be related.

  3. If it doesn’t rev over 5 or 6k, and you haven’t got a race system, 10p says your flapper is jammed.

  4. I haven’t tried revving it that hard, but I can hear the noise changing at 3k as though the flapper is opening, but could well be it isn’t opening all the way. It has been very damp across here so I was thinking the same.

Will try and strip the end can off tonight and see if it operates on start up.

  5. If the power pack has a fast charge mode coined 'power delivery technology', you should only use it with engine running. As some can draw 15>45W compared to the phones draw amount.

  6. Run it up the road and back in first couple gears and see if it revs out

  7. Well the bloody things just gone out all of its own accord!

    Coupe of points;

My fuel was low and went amber within a few miles of the MIL light coming on.

We’ve been riding slow at low revs for most of the week.

Two things changed coming back to camp tonight, firstly I filled the bike up, and secondly was able to give it a little more throttle than over the past few days, but not that much really.

So I don’t know. Maybe a sensor was sooted up, maybe fuel gauge is about to pack in? Time will tell.

Thank You to all who offered advice:cool::upyeah:

  8. Alas, I had intermittent MIL lights on a few times on mine. They come. They go. If they stay, has to be a trip to a dealer as they dint have error codes via the dash *thumbsdown*

  9. Frustrating, esp. when your away from home for several days or so. Hopefully the last we see of it
