It'll never be banned, IoM is its own country. And they gain to much from its existance to get rid of the tourist trophy. Maybe they'll limit the size of engines to slow it down at somepoint. RIP
I saw the smoke from the tank explosion. The first rider through came by seconds later sat up on the bike going slowly, looking shell shocked. The marshals obviously hadn’t seen the explosion and were furiously green flagging the sat up rider. I presume fearful others would run into the back of him. No one came through after that until later. After a period when the road was being cleared a small group of riders immediately on the scene came through the crash site and re-grouped right in front of me; 3 feet away. It struck me that they were all younger than me and quite fresh faced. Some of them looked shocked / upset. Some didn’t. I overheard what happened in the crash. I’ll never forget the facial expression / body language of that first rider through, seconds after the explosion, sat up on his bike.
It’s horrendous what happened to Daley but it upsets me when people say it should be banned. I think 17 people died attempting to summit Everest this year and there is no call to ban it. Us TT enthusiasts are very protective of the wonderful Island. RIP Daley, my thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Y'know, I've mixed feelings about the TT. On one hand I love it but on the other, I struggle with the price that's paid every year. But you're right, banning it, while other activities like mountain climbing, skiing, crossing the street, kills more people, makes no sense.
Same, it’s very sad when a rider is killed or has their life transformed for the worse through injury. These are the lowest of lows. Many of the riders I’ve greatly enjoyed watching and marvelling at are no longer with us, but without that outlet for their energy and talent and the availability of the adrenaline high that they undoubtedly get so much from, where would life have taken them? Generally the road racing paddock is full of lovely people (riders, crew, factory people and everything from coffee sellers to marshalls) with interesting stories and lots of time for the fan, and nearly always as keen as mustard to chat bikes. The accessibility of road racing and the riders and the emotional investment is all part of what draws you in, but also what makes it feel like you’ve lost something personally when there’s an incident like this. It’s hard not to resort to cliche, real road racing is fearsome and terrifying and wonderful all at once. To lose it from the IoM would be incredibly sad, I hope that in Ireland, IoM and around Europe in the IRRC there remains much racing to come. Very sad news about Daley, he was a talented rider who was coming into his own. Seemed like a nice lad with a young family who worked hard to enjoy his racing and get the results. I also felt for the superbike podium trio, all clearly affected and for Peter it must take the edge off the win. He’s a rider with proven abilities over race distance. Great to see the General on the top step though, so happy for him but would have been equally great to see James take the win. Both great personalities who’ve worked for it.
The police should be informed of that shit.. Don't what charge could be made but at least to find his identity and publicise it....
People have. And bombarded his employer. Who have made a FB comment on their page they are dealing with him, and he had been on sick leave for 2 1/2 yrs...
Must be someone he knows, as they have his number. Probably. Seems it's a Facebook Messenger thing ( I don't do Facebook so didn't recognise it.)
Haven't heard what happened to the rider that crashed last night in the supersport race, it was just down the road from me, the helicopter was soon on the scene. Hope he's OK. Steve
