  9. That's pretty much what I felt about reducing the fantastic Curtis Mayfield to one-hit-wonder territory.

    Call it irony!

  10. Aha.......I didn't go that far back up the thread

  11. watched CM in 1979 at southampton top rank club, seems a long way back

  12. Influential guitarist, Brilliant composer. Such a nice bloke.
What happened to him proves that there is no God (certainly not one you'd want to waste your time praising).

"The single releases "Freddie's Dead" and "Super Fly" both sold over one million copies each, and were awarded gold discs by the R.I.A.A"

One hit wonder. Yup. Like the Beatles.

  13. Whats a matter you hey! gota no respect. What doya think you do, why you looka so sad. Its a not so bad, its a nicea place aaaa shutupa ya face!!!!!!!!

  14. The wonderful Curtis Mayfield charted at number 12 in 1971 with Move on up - apart from that, he never passed number 40 with four other releases, so I guess in most peoples minds (obviously not yours), he's a one hit wonder?

  15. Joe Dolce!!!!!

  16. I thought one-hit-wonders were pretty much unknown people who made one (1) song that everyone knew and were heard of neither before nor since.

But you could hardly say that about Curtis Mayfield, who was one of Soul's greatest artists and was world famous, and not just for Move On Up (even if it's a fab tune) but for a host of other things.

  17. Thats the man! We could start a whole new thread with "What ever happened to??????????????"

  18. you remember (rumour had it) that Andrew Sachs approached Dolce to release 'Whats a matter you que?' but permission not granted

  19. From a great album!! - tube way army the pleasure principle.
