Hi I've got a new AEM sprocket and sprocket carrier I'm trying to fit, but I have some issues. When I tighten the sprocket side nut to correct tightness, I find the inside of the carrier touches and rubs on the axel hub. Am I missing something? I did remove the axel to fit a new rotor so I am wondering if the axel hasn't gone back through the wheel side of the hub enough, but I have knock it fairly hard with a mallet. Any suggestions?
I would take it apart and start again, failing that use a shim to pack the axle away from the hub, I've had it with a front sprocket due to being fitted the wrong way around. Hope this helps Ben
Ok, so I’ve taken it apart and refitted. The axel is sliding in from the wheel side nice and easy and is butting right up to the hub. Even though the axel is correctly fitted, the sprocket carrier is still rubbing the hub and in turn making the front and rear sprockets out of alignment. I’ve tried fitting the original sprocket and this also rubs the hub. Looking at a 1199 swingarm diagram, it doesn’t look like I’m missing anything. I really want to get this sorted so I can ride the damn thing this summer :-(
Update. I think I’ve sorted it. I’ve put one of the washers between the carrier and hub and that has put the sprocket inline with the front sprocket. I thought the process of assembly was sprocket carrier with sprocket, then the plate that slides into the spline, thick washer, thin washer then nut. Is that right? Looking at the schematic I’m not sure and maybe the thick washer does indeed go between the hub and carrier. It fits perfectly into the recess of the plate though, so I’m unsure.
The correct order of assembly... hub spacer (easily distinguished from the wheel nut washer as it's the thicker of the two), the complete final drive assembly (consisting of the sprocket/sprocket carrier, carrier flange, & cush drive pins), the washer, wheel nut, and retaining clip, with the wheel nut being torqued to 230 Nm.
Khmer, many thanks for taken the time to do this-I figured it out though. I was putting the thick washer and thin washer together. I simply tried the thick washer between the hub and carrier and could see the sprocket was perfectly in line. ATB
