I was quite surprised I must admit, I knew my 2015 BMW was very fast but this was the first time I've had it fully working in race trim. It was a ridiculous missile with only a full system and no mapping or anything. The guy on the V4 was a better and faster rider than me and would leave me behind in every corner but I would reel him in a fair bit up the straight. The way the V4 corners is amazing, it was like the Phillip Island WSB where Bautista could keep a tighter line through every corner. It's super impressive and I would rather have a V4 than the BMW missile if it was possible to race it but unfortunately Ducati have made it impossible to race due to the extra capacity.
I’m a bit confused, Bautista rides a WSBK spec V4RS which is massively different to a BSB spec V4RS which is a lot closer to a customer spec V4R. I suspect the £34,995 rrp is the obstacle for many club racers, compounded by Ducati’s track mileage servicing. The S100RR might not be as rounded as the V4 but I suspect a much cheaper option. Andy

Well, get a kidney sold, scrape together a £3,863 deposit, and you’ll be wheelying about on its carbon rims for just £253 a month, with a final payment of £10,252. Wow.
When you say closer, the bsb bike is essentially the same bike as the wsbk just it’s had the electrics removed and runs a different ecu. The bikes come straight from Bologna as a race package from Corse. Both bikes have hardly a single part which is the same as the v4 road bike. Had that from the horses mouth
Not quite that simple and you get a box of bits from Ducati Corse. If BSB spec restrict the revs (WSBK allow homologation plus 750) you might as well run a customer V4R with better forks, brakes and swing arm. Andy
Looks nice, except for that pig-ugly catalyst hanging under it! It looked awful on my 2010 model and doesn't seem to have changed much over the years. Still, at those prices you could probably afford a full race system which hopefully does away with it.
Wilfs comments (paraphrasing) on FB 'you be surprised how much similarity in parts there is between the V4R road bike & the RS. Its electronics & exhaust' as it's almost the same as the road bike, and for 35k you get a motor that is very, very close to the RS version the WSBK & BSB bikes are built on.
It's exactly that. you can build a near Superstock spec BMWawakiAha for say £25k but the figures for the V4R are astronomical. £35k for the bike, £5k for the exhaust so at least £40k just to start with. Thats not even considering the fact that it's very unlikely to even be allowed on track due to noise restrictions. I still really really want one but it's very hard to justify when I can use a BMW for all the racing and all the euro track days / testing whereas the V4R would just be a Euro toy.

First, please let me apologise on behalf of BMW for the extensive delay that you have had to endure so far. Secondly, please excuse the lack of personalisation on this letter which is due to the fact that your data is at this stage held by your Retailer and not BMW itself. Unfortunately, I’m sorry to have to inform you that BMW’s Plant Berlin continues to experience ongoing production delays with this brand new model. These delays are the result of supply chain issues and the nature of these delays mean that confirming expected delivery dates is very challenging. To put the topic in context, in advance of the new bike’s 1 June launch UK Retailers were holding several hundred confirmed orders, over half of which were placed in or before the last quarter of 2018; as at today we have delivered to UK customers less than ten bikes! In addition, last Friday we were informed that worldwide RR production in Berlin will virtually cease through June and July, while the plant builds the backlog of May’s production. Therefore, even the August and September delivery dates that many UK customers were given in good faith by their Retailer may not now be met. In fact, as we currently cannot obtain a guarantee that high volume production will definitely re-commence in August, there is still a small risk that we may not even deliver every one of the currently held orders this year. The ‘supply chain issues’ referred to above apparently centre around a single component provided by a third party that has not been able to provide acceptable quality on 100% of parts supplied. As you would expect, Plant Berlin will simply not build bikes that in any way do not meet BMW’s exacting standards, hence the very slow rate of production so far. Separately, in the UK we face an additional issue in that over 80% of our orders are for the top of the range M Sport specification while the factory currently has a maximum capacity of 35-40%. We understand the anticipation for this model is extremely high and can only reassure you we are working as hard as possible in the background to achieve the earliest possible delivery date for you. I can also confirm that as bikes are received in the UK they will continue to be allocated as fairly as possible based on retailer order date. In recognition of the further disappointment this announcement will cause we would like to offer you a £500 Retailer Credit which can be used towards servicing, parts ,accessories or BMW rider wear and which will be available upon collection of your ordered S 1000 RR. I very nearly ordered one a few weeks ago until I was told that I would be lucky to get one before October!
If you order one now, time it turns up there will be glimpses of the newest R1 appearing as well. These numbers they're selling aren't going to do the residuals any good either IMO. I'm in for test ride next week, all what I've just typed will probably fly out the window anyway as soon as I ride it.
Happens. They’ve owned up to it and are sorting it out. A lot of manufacturers, Ducati very much included take a very different approach haha
