  1. There won't be many XR buyers next year when the V4 Multistrada hits the showrooms. :)

  2. You say that, but there's just as many bmw owners waiting for the new RR Lump to end up in a new XR, their forums are awash with mock ups just the same as this one, it'd be naive to believe everyone pines for the latest Ducati

  3. I went out again yesterday and after the quality but not so exciting GS I was pretty set on the XR but the one I then took out that had 750 miles on it made my hands and elbows completely numb after half an hour and really put me off of the idea to the point it didn't seem any easy for long distances than an RR. I'm back to considering the GSA again but I was hoping to have something I could do Nurburgring laps on at a decent speed which the GSA couldn't. It handles very well but it's a Spaceship for sure. Sorry to thread hijack on a Ducati forum; I'd choose a Multistrada if I had the option haha!

  4. TBH mate, having lead and following GS riders who can ride, it will be quick enough for the ring to have fun. Where these biog bikes tend to suffer (and XR probably the same) is chicanes and quick directional changes at speed.

I said on FB but did you try the GSA on its harder/sportiest setting? The GS I tried was like going from Urban to Sport on the multi: bumps became bumps, no wallowing at speed, really far more connected to the road. It isnt a sports bike (or TBH a multi level suspension package either) but will churn miles very fast.

  5. The XR is literally an RR with big bars. It flies and I think because it’s tall and short wheelbase like the RR changes direction very fast. It’s got the same compressed razor like feel of a race bike about it.

The GSA was much better handling in the sunny weather yesterday, it was in dynamic and road mode and had all the TE model extras, I didn’t manage to work any other settings out?

  6. If it was a 2017+ model, which I presume it would be, then it should have the dampening rubber on the bar risers which reduces vibrations already, then some heavy bar ends will sort out the rest.

Making your hands and elbows completely numb after 30 minutes sounds extreme, considering I've crossed Europe on these things I'd definitely suggest getting heavier bars ends and hopefully that'll sort you out.

End of the day I don't work for BMW so it's entirely your choice, it's a free bike to use so whatever your preference really

  7. Contrary to what other DVT multistrada owners may think about the Xr, it is quite simply more racey and agile, less portly feeling than the dvt. Set it in dynamic and let her rip

The older multi 1200 felt sharper than the dvt, the Xr just takes it a tad further, but I still loved the older 1200s ohlins multi

  8. It’s via the dash and only at standstill iirc. If it felt like a magic carpet ride, it probably wasn’t set at its stiffest lol. The one I tried felt very similar to the XR in terms of suspension travel when in that sport setting. I did a morning on the Gs (also TE) and an afternoon on the XR. I also got numb hands and stiff elbows, but tbh I used to get stiff elbows and numb balls on the multi

  9. Haha, nowadays some perverts pay for that :)

  10. If you own a multi, you’ve paid plenty already ;)

  11. This would be the RR engine that they can't even make properly now? :D

I suspect they ar going to have such a huge backlog of RR orders to fulfil next year that the XR will be a long time coming.

  12. No idea what the part issue is. Could be a hose, an internal compliant or a simple (but difficult to source) fixing.

With the XR success, reckon it will be far quicker than the V4 multi to appear!

  13. It’s an issue with one of the milling machines in the factory. They’ve not drilled an oil galley deep enough and it’s affected 1 in 3 bikes

  16. Don’t let facts get ion the way of a good negative internet story :upyeah:

  17. That sounds a bit odd. The letter from BMW UK's bossman said "These delays are the result of supply chain issues". Does BMW outsource their engine building (or parts thereof)?

  18. Its standard practice for pretty much all companies to outsource engine parts making.

  19. Oh, OK.
