  1. I am selling my camper van, and because the market seems slow it’s now £1,500 cheaper. That buys you a good amount of ferry / tunnel tokens and enough petrol to be on the continent or wherever your sense of adventure takes you. :)

As a family we have outgrown our beloved 1971 (1972 model year) camper van, "Derek".

A LHD VW transporter originally from Oregon, USA, Derek was converted by Riviera in the US. However in order to make him more appropriate for our family we have incorporated some period-correct Westfalia fixtures and fittings (e.g. wardrobe, rear shelf, sink unit) and added a pop-top roof in the Westfalia style to make him a 4-berth.

    Happy to entertain sensible offers.

Good stout fairly original van, it’s not perfect but then perfect ones are £20k+

Would love to find it a good home!

    Thanks!

  2. Very nice example, I’ll bet you’ll be sorry to let Derek go.
    Good luck with the sale.

  3. Thanks buddy!

We're very sorry, but as a family our needs have changed and schlepping across Europe is now something that typically needs a different mode of transport. We've realistically not used him enough the last couple of years to warrant keeping him fed and watered, and as pretty as he is to look at I'm trying to be pragmatic.

I'd rather see him go somewhere sympathetic and take an offer than dogmatically hold out for my asking price TBH. Old VWs are now daft money, and I was advised by a friend to start at £17k... but that just doesn't sit well with me. I think I gave £750 for my first one, and gave £300 for my first Beetle. The Beetle was a project though, needed the brakes sorting and the seats putting back into it... after doing the welding and paint the previous owner lost interest.

    Bring back those days... :pensive:
