Badge Residue Removal - Advice

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by bradders, Jun 24, 2019.

  1. I have swapped the boot lid over on my old vdub, and the fella before had a GT3 badge on it and I just want to have my Carrera badge on there. You can see the outline still, and its caused as if it was lacquered over (but I don't think it was).

Whats best to remove? Good old fashioned t-cut? Any solvent type stuff that would make it easier?

    Thanks

  2. I’d go with t-cut but be gentle to start with ...... but I’m sure there is a certain someone on her with better knowledge

  3. For some reason I don't have any, so before I buy I thought I'd ask.

  4. I used to mix two parts t-cut one part polish to make it a little less harsh

  9. Not this. It’s like it’s raised, like paint (almost)

  10. I’ll take a pic later, but it’s like a later of paint has been added on the edge. I think it’s just whatever they used to fix the badge

  11. Can you not go to Volkswagen;) for a off the shelf treatment pack.

  12. Have you tried a rasp?

  16. @bradders did you see my thread https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/posts/1379357/ ?
There was all sorts of crap on the bike and we used gunk, petrol, paint stripper, white spirit & nail polish remover. Not all mixed together of course, just some were better at some things than others. Hopefully this will work for you too.

  17. I tentatively tried a bit of white spirit on a cloth, but it’s the lip that’s the issue. Fear either aggressive rubbing (risk damage to paintwork) or a different badge. It’s not a GT3 and I don’t want to badge as one.

  18. Where’s the picture. Been removed?

  19. WD 40, brake clutch cleaner, alcohol wipes, if it is like the glue residue, let it soak in

  20. There’s no picture yet :upyeah: if it stops raining I’ll post one later
