Can anyone tell me how to get into the DVT key? My key battery is fine, but it's more a case of wanting to know for the future, in case it goes flat when I'm away on a trip.
Not entirely sure I understand - could you explain please? I have a keyless ignition, so there is no ignition key slot - I only use the key to open the petrol cap.
If the battery goes flat you can place the key to the right of the fork legs above the black strip with Ducati on it. That is where the sensor is. It will pick up the key passively, like it does the red key.
I had no idea - thank you, that's really useful to know. Either way, I'll stash a couple of CR2032 batteries under the pillion seat - they're so cheap off ebay that it's silly not to.
Just make sure you buy genuine batteries, not cheapo fakes. The cheapo fakes won't last a year (they won't from my experience anyway, with car fob batteries). Better to pay a little more from a trusted UK based seller.
Good advice - hard to tell these days! I tend to keep a stash in a drawer at home, and as soon as I use one I just jump straight on ebay and order some more.
Motonik, Thanks for the video, I used for a 2015 Multistrada 1200DVT, same key by the look of it. much easier to see video, the manual is a little confusing.
My PIN was set up by my dealer when I collected the bike. Thank you for your concern for my well-being, it makes a pleasant change from most forums!
Hi MotoNik: I hope you are joking about 1111! That is the PIN a lot of dealers set-up just to make it easy for them to start and move bikes around the shop; also makes it easy to steal Ducatis. It takes less than a minute to change the PIN to your own.
