V4 V4s Cutting Out...

  1. Been busy 2 days running it in quick and just today its cutting out and seems to be stuttering??

    Do you think its just the heat outside? Been great up to now done 400 miles no drama. Fuels good - over half way through the tank.

    Have to get the Biketrac replaced at 1st service as its “burnt out” were their words - do you think its connected - as i say been great up to now and assume its electrical as ut just dies.

    No warning lights in either- but sounds lumpy and hesitant .

    Thoughts?
     
  2. Mine feels like that when it’s hot weather if you get stuck in a town occasionally. We’re you in traffic? Richard
     
  3. I'm over in Spain right now and mine runs terrible if its left parked in the sun. At first I thought it was a fuel problem, but I'm sure it's heat related. Not helped by the very high temps here at 40+ degrees.

Original stutter was after being sat 30 min and pulled off into a Dual carriageways 40-50 mph noticed it and had to keep revs above 5k to clear it but still not perfect Seemed to clear after a while in clear air Started again in traffic. Then Started to cut out - you can hear it shut down onto 2 cylinders and i suspect it was doing that then cleared when it got some cool air in. Will go out again tomorrow and see what happens when cooler/ clear roads.
     
  5. Yep, exactly the same with mine, I don't think they like hot air. Mine is better with a full tank of gas than a low tank. It's definitely a heat thing. On another note the rear subframe will give you 3rd degree burns if you're not careful. But hey the look sexy as he'll parked up.

  6. Shutting down to 2 cylinder is emission thing, if you stop at traffic it shuts the cylinders, dealer told me this, when I picked up the bike. If you touch the throttle It's all 4 again.
     
  7. Funny enough i can hear it switch 4 to 2 when at low revs when moving at slow speeds 2nd/3rd gear while just ticking along it comes in and out. Almost silent then it fires up and growls.

    Guess i will top up tom and go for a blast - get the last 50/60 miles on it b4 running n service.
     
  8. Mine used to do it in traffic or waiting at lights sometimes, think it had a software update during one of the recalls which seemed to sort it out, although it has done it again once from memory since.
     
  9. Been advised I had all recalls done as its a 19bike and was delivered last week.

    Off out this afternoon with new tank of fuel and its cooler too - see how it goes.
     
  10. Well I was at Brno Circuit last week and it was fekin roasting hot! The V4S did not miss a beat. Hugely impressive all round.

    FYI I’m running Termignoni Uscite UpMap as opposed to standard. Maybe that’s a factor.

  11. Just back from a top up of BP ultimate and a 50ml round trip to Burnham on Crouch for a cuppa and she was good as gold.

    Guess its the heat and traffic/slow for a while.

    admittedly it gets hot quick at slow speeds but the fan isnt shy to come on so all good.

    Same again tomorrow so see how we go before 1st service Thursday

    Gotta say I love the V4 and it does “egg u on!” Took me weeks in the 959 to do 600 - will be a week on the V4 and tbh I am moderating it back to try and keep it reasonable ie under 650.
